The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialist will support S&P Global Ratings’ ERM franchise by assessing the risk management practices of a portfolio of Property & Casualty and Reinsurance companies. The Specialist will liaise with C-level executives of portfolio companies in order to develop an assessment of risk controls, risk culture, risk models, strategic risk management and emerging risk management. The Associate Director will communicate S&P Global Ratings’ views through a combination of written reports, published research, conferences and investor meetings.

Evaluate and provide perspective to both internal and external audiences on the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) capabilities of insurance companies within the context of S&P’s ERM framework
Lead ERM discussions with senior management teams and provide insight to rating committees
Assess ERM frameworks of insurance companies
Conduct analytic assessments of risk control processes
Develop written ERM Level II reports
Provide technical input into the development and ongoing maintenance of ERM criteria
Publish research on the subject of ERM or related areas
Required Qualifications:
Background in a mathematical/actuarial discipline with at least a degree level qualification
Completion of several PC actuarial exams; ACAS or FCAS designation ideal
CFA, CERA or FRM designation a plus
Professional experience in quantitative statistical or actuarial risk management and modeling methods in the property casualty insurance industry
Understanding of the operation of Property & Casualty insurance products, with exposure to life insurance, reinsurance or health insurance industry considered a plus
3 – 8 years of risk management experience within an insurance company or consulting firm environment preferred
Ability to understand abstract and complex issues involving insurance companies and products, risk, capital markets
Good working knowledge of actuarial modeling tools such as RMS and ResQ
Ability to effectively interact with clients at all levels in insurance companies and external market participants
Strong analytical and decision making skills
