The Global Internal & Executive Communications team exists to help foster organizational alignment, employee engagement, and brand advocacy, with a mission to measurably transform, modernize, and simplify how McDonald’s communicates with the system. This individual is responsible for building and overseeing a world-class, data-centric, fit-for-purpose infrastructure of global communications channels and routines that enable the global editorial planning to align with broader strategic communications goals.

This position will be Chicago-based (Oak Brook-Downtown in 2018); some flexibility on location.
Responsibilities
Principle responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Introduce modern, measurable two-way channels and routines (e.g. video, social, community, mobile, apps) to enable system-wide communication in line with audience profiles and personas
Conduct analytics and insights to show impact of communications plans on growth outcomes
Advise internal stakeholders on appropriate channel use to meet communications objectives
Inform the editorial plan based on knowledge of communications requests
Create tools and resources that enable internal clients to manage their own communications needs
Manage the intake process for communications needs
Streamline and sync the global distribution processes and ecosystem of channels and enable segmenting by audience
Partner with IT to build and implement multi-year channel roadmap
Act as thought leader on communication across various digital channels
Own global distribution lists and process
Continuously improve processes and channels based on feedback
Create channel strategies that cross over from digital to live events to traditional media
Seamlessly integrate internal and external digital channels and messaging (including shareability)
Conduct audience research to define personas and gather insights, aligned with IT personas, to define gaps in the current channel infrastructure
Develop and execute plan to foster adoption of the holistic foundation digital suite
Build dashboard to measure channel performance
Conduct studies that connect communications activity with employee profiles and key outcomes
Use robust measurement tools to monitor and evolve campaigns and platform features
Minimum Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a Communications or Business related field
5+ years of experience in Corporate Communications or Public Relations
2+ years of experience working in a large/multi-national company
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience implementing internal communications channels (internet, newsletters, enterprise social networks and etcetera) strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of approaches to communications and channel measurement and reporting strongly preferred
Extensive project management experience working closely with IT and Legal teams strongly preferred
Experience working globally and cross-culturally
Experience building cross-functional relationships
Proven leadership and decision-making skills
Possess self-confidence to raise perspective, opinions and issues to be addressed in a wide variety of situations
Is a team player, participates in the decision making process, supports company decisions and is an advocate of the brand
Has knowledge/experience working with digital marketing and social media platforms
Collaborative and collegial with superiors, peers and junior colleagues locally and across the globe
Experience working independently with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment
Is open, honest and direct but tactful and respectful in communications style and approach – internally and externally
