Executive Director PMO Olympus Southborough

The Executive Director, Project Management Office and his/her staff will be responsible for the Project Management and execution of all New Product Development efforts for OSTA (Olympus Surgical Technologies of America). The incumbent will be responsible for informing the Executive Committee, Project Approval Board and Corporate on all matters related to the projects (timeline, risk, resources, budget, etc.). He/She must be an experienced developer of talent with a track record of recruiting, developing and retaining needed capabilities utilizing a combination of in-house, external, and outsourced resources. The incumbent will be establishing and maintaining cross functional organizational alignment to ensure a consistent and rational approach to delivering results through prioritization, staffing & execution of key development projects.

Job Duties: * Lead a team of 10 Program Managers across 3 R&D locations.

* Develop and implement consistent methods and tools for project initiation, team structure, schedule development & tracking, financial management, risk management, project/program reviews, escalation processes, business case development and cross-functional team leadership.

* Communicate and drive the adoption and alignment of standards, policies and procedures across the business.

* Lead change management efforts to develop a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and bias for action to aid in the execution and delivery of projects.

* Define and implement the utilization of useful project performance metrics and indicators for project progress utilizing metrics to provide a data-centric view of PMO performance and to direct on-going improvement efforts that will impact outcomes.

* Partner with functional leadership (internal and external to OSTA) to ensure appropriate resource planning, execution, visibility and tracking of projects.

* Drive the effort to evaluate and select a new resource/project planning tool for OSTA.

* Identify and deploy new technologies, methodologies and techniques that can benefit the project management function.

* Develop effective training tools for Project Managers, Project Leaders and functional core team members.

* Perform all other essential duties as assigned.


Job Requirements: (ONLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED)

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technical Field and an advanced degree (MS, MBA, etc) are required.

* Minimum of 10 years cross functional program/project experience, with a demonstrated track record of execution bringing product from concept through market release is required.

* Minimum of 5 years minimum experience in Medical Device Industry is required.

* Minimum of 5 years minimum experience managing and developing people is required.

* Project Management Training & Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) are required.

* Exceptional oral and written communication skills with varied stakeholders (e.g. business, technical, executive) are essential.

* Must be team player who thrives on working collaboratively and skilled at influencing without authority.

* Must be detail oriented; highly organized and thorough.

* Must have keen sense of time management with competing priorities and master of multi-tasking in a changing business environment.

* Must be an avid problem solver with proven ability to make timely decisions while dealing with ambiguity.

* Expert level experience with MS Project, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word is essential.
