Warner Bros. Distributing Inc. seeks a Director, Publicity for the New York Publicity/ Promotion department. Position will manage and execute publicity campaigns on WB theatrical releases. Manage the New York publicity team, including delegation of tasks and reporting on team’s activities, under direction of the VPs and senior marketing executives, and also in conjunction with the Burbank publicity director. The Burbank publicity director takes the lead in coordinating the publicity efforts of talent with agents, managers and personal publicists; both directors work together to support those efforts related to New York publicity events and activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with senior publicity executives to develop publicity strategies on WB releases.

Supervises the development of promotional ideas and materials needed for each film’s publicity campaign. Actively participates in brainstorming strategy sessions with NY and LA team.

Serves as the senior press contact for long-lead and fastbreaking print, broadcast, and radio outlets. Services appropriate film materials to the press.

Oversees the pitching and execution of publicity strategies for NY office.

This might include production and film features, profiles on filmmakers and actors, fashion, beauty, news and off-the-entertainment pages stories.

Schedules press interviews and meetings for filmmakers and talent and accompanies them to those meetings.

Working with LA publicity director coordinates with agents, managers and personal publicists the publicity efforts of talent; schedules all press interviews and television appearances for talent. Coordinates and executes photo shoots for magazines and newspapers.

Manages and maintains publicity budgets on specific NY events, and coordinates and executes the press coverage of these events.

Coordinates all media coverage of press/promotional events of the activities of the field publicity and promotions groups.

Schedules all press (critics as well as editorial) screenings of assigned feature films.

Has current knowledge in publicity trends, competitive theatrical feature film information, NY artistic community (theatre, art, television) and community. leaders. Helps keep accurate contact lists of all press changes in the community and shares this information within the department.

Regularly communicates NY publicity updates to senior level executives in NY and LA. Manages the activities of a Jr. Publicist, and a Coordinator on the New York team.

Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
BA/BS in Marketing, Communications or related field strongly preferred.

Minimum 5 years experience in the fields of film publicity and communications.

Minimum 5 years experience in the entertainment/motion picture industry.

Must have the ability to work effectively with publicity materials necessary for the coordination and management of publicity activities.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must have the ability to interact with persons at all levels including talent, filmmakers, press, etc.

Must have flexible schedule to accommodate screenings, events, brainstorming, talent schedules, occasional weekend work, and meetings with LA team when necessary.

Must be able to compose copy, press releases, pitch letters.

Must be able to coordinate people and events in the staging of publicity activies.

Must be able to select trailers, stills and other materials for promotions that are interesting and fulfill the media's needs and requirements.

Must be able to attend various press related/film events in the New York area.

Full knowledge of press community required. Existing strong relationships with The New York Times, EW, Time, People and all network morning shows preferred.

Must have excellent ability to handle multiple on-going projects and multi-tasking.

Must have ability to construct budgets, estimate costs of promotions and special events.

Working knowledge of current developments in online and social media worlds.

Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers, clients, talent, vendors and other levels of personnel in a positive, energetic manner.

Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.

Must be able to work with high maintenance, demanding personalities.

Must have ability to prioritize and to be flexible in changing priorities on short notice.
