Director Display Marketing Groupon Seattle

As the Director of Display Marketing at Groupon, you'll be responsible for the success of Groupon’s paid social and display advertising globally. You'll lead a team of marketing managers, technical analysts, and engineers to set and achieve business goals. You'll be responsible for the P&L for your business with the ability to identify, measure, optimize, and report on the fundamental success factors that drive your marketing business. You'll build a team to optimize creative, conversions, and inventory sources, and be responsible for improving key performance measures. You'll work with both regional business owners and our global engineering team to develop real-time marketing analysis tools, plan and execute A/B tests, validate test results, report findings to the senior team, and optimize performance of all display and mobile campaigns. You will partner with business stakeholders, engineers, data scientists and product managers to create new marketing strategies, product features, and user experiences that make Groupon's social, display, and mobile advertising engaging for both merchants and consumers.

The right candidate will possess a proven track record of leadership, product ownership, analytical prowess, technical aptitude, and business savvy. Responsibilities include:


Improving the impact from our marketing spend so you can grow your marketing channels and the percentage of business they drive for Groupon.

Building a team to effectively manage campaign optimization and operational support, including creative design, optimization (creatives, landing pages & inventory sources), data mining & performance analysis, and reporting

Developing a keen understanding of the incrementality of your marketing efforts so you’re confident of the ROI on every dollar spent

Measuring, monitoring, and improving global marketing KPIs across each driver of marketing performance, including inventory source, price, audience, creative, offer, targeting, landing page, conversion, optimization techniques, and operational best practices

Driving incremental improvement of your marketing platform through rigorous A/B testing and building scalable, repeatable best practices for optimization

Working closely with the product, engineering, and other internal teams at Groupon to guide product decisions and manage global rollouts of new features


This position requires a minimum of:

BS in Computer Science or related Engineering discipline

Successful track record of building and leading business or product teams to achieve company goals

6+ years direct experience running marketing operations

Experience managing successful teams, hiring, performance management, etc.

Keen aptitude for improving campaign performance using solid test & control fundamentals, data analysis, and identifying key business opportunities in the data.

Deep experience with paid marketing across mobile, display, and social channels, as well as organic mobile marketing technologies including mobile ad servers, mobile exchanges, RTB bidders, DSPs, SSPs, DMPs, with a sound understanding of the overall online advertising ecosystem

Proven success applying rigorous, financially-rooted decision-making practices to guide product development and business efforts to achieve success

Strong leadership, project management, communication and collaboration skills with a proven ability to work with both technical and business teams
