Join Ecolab as our Director, Global Network Design and provide leadership in developing the Supply Chain Network Optimization capabilities and support the network optimization projects across the different regions. This individual will be tasked with supporting Ecolab’s Supply Chain organization and regions and/or divisions in developing the internal capabilities on network design activities to ensure we are well-positioned to answer strategic questions such as where to build, how to distribute and where to source raw materials utilizing a total end to end landed cost methodology.

The Director, Global Network Design will provide guidance in a collaborative approach to ensure leverage and consistency. The main focus will be to develop new and refine existing tools and processes, support creation of training programs and the development of a database to track network design activities and project related work. The candidate will provide support and guidance on acquisitions, divestures as well as to the regions and divisions. This is a highly cross-functional and collaborative role with significant interaction with the regions, divisions, sales organization, procurement, logistics vendors and Ecolab’s Global manufacturing teams.

Main Responsibilities

The candidate will perform or provide guidance and support to the regions and/or divisions based on a collaborative approach on:
The development of a 3-5 year Network Design Strategy which incorporates information accessible and actionable by integrating real time data collection technologies with best of breed supply chain engineering execution applications.
Strategic network design analysis for global projects and/or customers, acquisitions and based on requests from the regions and the divisions.
Interviewing management to learn about operations and supply chain streams
Providing guidance and/or leading the process to manage the collection of operational data, supply chain data and logistics data or facilitating the process whenever needed including managing the process to validate the data against the knowledge of functional and/or regional experts.
The creation of a network model design schematic, refining collaboratively with experts.
Ensuring consistency whenever possible as well as knowledge leverage across the regions and historical network design projects (ongoing learning and improvement process).
Supporting the process and providing guidance to the regions and or divisions to aggregate operational data into a baseline model including validating baseline against historical results.
Overseeing and verifying all Supply Chain Network studies and leading the global projects.
Incorporating cost projections, forecasts and network design alternatives into the baseline, transforming the baseline into a forecasted model to be used as the object of the analysis.
Analyzing and optimizing the object model, performing ‘what-if’ scenarios to explore strategic alternatives.
Presenting results to the sponsors and executive committee. Working with client (internal as well as external) to develop action plan for deployment.
Setting up strong communication channels with the regional or division Supply Chain and/or logistics leaders to understand regional/division needs, documenting services level requirements, and measuring/communicating results.
Producing innovative and accurate lowest landed cost analyses.
Developing, obtaining approval of systems budgets and deployment of ongoing support of global processes and tools related to network design activities.
Driving network design team productivity.
Overseeing all Supply Chain logistics reporting, master data clean up and control, and rationalization activities. Assuring globally that there is global use of the latest reporting software platform, provision of standard reports, and confidence in data quality.
Interfacing with Information Systems and Division teams to assure proper identification of e-Logistics solutions across multiple supply chains.
Reporting Ecolab’s network design (end to end) productivity bridges and global projects status. Addressing improvement areas to assure overall goal attainment.
Supporting the Ecolab TPM program (value streams).
Location: This position is required to be based in St. Paul, MN or Naperville, IL.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
10+ years’ experience in international and regional supply chain/logistics
Experience in network design (including strong knowledge of supply chain network design applications and databases, international tax and VAT/GST, trade compliance, reverse logistics, manufacturing/inventory/warehouse costing and distribution)
Analytical with hands on experience in developing and deploying Total Landed Cost.
Experience with Network Optimization software (i.e. Cast, Llamasoft, ILOG etc.)
Ability to travel 30-40%, domestic and international
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field
MBA or Advanced Technical Degree
Previous experience within chemical manufacturing, food and beverage, oil and gas, water or hospitality industries
Strong project management and leadership skills.
Ability to influence senior management through well formulated business proposals
Ability and willingness to work and lead focused team within a matrix organization
High performance orientation, strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, negotiating ability, sound judgment and communication skills
Fluency in Spanish and Mandarin
