Director Product Marketing VMware Palo Alto

As the Director of Product Marketing for VMware Cloud on AWS, you will be responsible for working cross functionally across account teams, professional services teams, sales operations, channel partners, SI/SOs, field/partner enablement teams, customers, and others to clearly communicate and deliver the business benefits of VMware’s software-defined datacenter solutions as-a-service on the AWS Cloud.

You will also have product marketing responsible for continuing our transformation from a software company, to one that designs, markets, and sells cloud services that are simple for customers to purchase, deploy, and operate.

Product Marketing roles at VMware own or drive the overall plans around go-to-market, pricing and packaging, message/positioning, field/partner enablement, product launches, strategic partnerships, and, jointly with product management, are the “face” of the product to the external world. This is a senior leadership role in the organization.

Key responsibilities:
• Personally contribute as well as lead/mentor a team of product marketing managers to successfully execute on strategic programs, including but not limited to:
• Develop plans to achieve our customer adoption and financial goals for the service
• Continue our shift to design, market, and sell based around achieving business outcomes, based on a cloud service delivery model
• Analyze market and customer data to draw insights that will influence the overall plans
• Develop compelling, differentiated messaging and positioning, with a clear understanding of the target customer/audience and the core capabilities of our cloud service
• Work closely with sales/channel teams to ensure the value proposition, assets, training, incentive plans are all in place for a strong sales motion
• Collaborate with field/global marketing to ensure demand-gen and influencer programs are ready to drive the highest level of interest and excitement in the market place
• Identify and develop collaborations/partnerships with 3rd parties to achieve common goals

Qualifications:
• BS in Computer Science or related technical field. MBA a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in product marketing, product management, technical marketing, or technical pre-sales leadership roles. Experience in cloud services and/or enterprise software a plus.
• Strong advocate of the customer’s point of view and requirements
• Demonstrated ability to influence “up” AND cross-functionally to peers. This is a highly matrixed job, requiring collaboration among multiple groups.
• Strong analytical skills and a natural predisposition toward data-driven decision making, but with ability to make reasoned decisions in the face of uncertainty or imperfect data.
• Demonstrated team leadership, mentoring, and organizational skills.
• Willing to travel to meet customers and partners up to 20% time.
