Craft the vision for music maker science going forward
Lead research and development activities across data science team
Grow the existing team to support the changing needs of the business
Work closely with engineering and product teams to build innovative products
Provide rigorous analysis to drive strategic decisions for Pandora
Assume primary group administrative responsibilities including budget, resource, and staff planning
Requirements:
PhD in a scientific field or equivalent work experience
Minimum two years managing scientists
Expert level understanding in machine learning and data mining
Extensive experience leading a technology team that delivers on key goals while also being involved in the determination of those goals and strategic direction
Strong track record of developing successful scientists at all points of their career
Proven track record of delivering high quality science results on schedule
Experience managing a complex mix of projects and working closely with other parts of the business to communicate and deliver against various goals
A progressive management style emphasizing openness, collaboration, and shared goals
Outstanding collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross functionally in order to establish and meet shared organizational goals
Strong analytical abilities, technical knowledge, and experience
Exemplary communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
