The Senior Program Manager position has overall responsibility for complete program execution on the assigned program. This includes ensuring technical, cost and schedule performance while leading a large team with multiple subcontractors on a fast paced and highly innovative program. The program is building a complex software intensive system while simultaneously being operational in a mission critical environment.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Drive acceptable program performance metrics across all work streams
• Establish and maintain a strong customer relationship
• Managing managers across multiple simultaneous work streams
• Cost and schedule performance utilizing Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Work with and manage partners effectively
• Manage the build out of the operations and support organization
• Work closely with lead architects and engineers to ensure a highly flexible and manageable operating environment
• Ensure high quality engineering deliverables
• Build Program Management Office by establishing roles and responsibilities and managing associated personnel
General Requirements:
• Ability to represent Vexcel as the primary customer interface
• Minimum of 10 years work experience in software engineering and program management
• 5 years' experience managing the development of software intensive systems
• Experience managing programs worth more than $25M
• Proven ability to drive successful results across multiple functional areas
• Experience managing contracts, subcontracts and engineering teams
• Exceptional team building skills
• Demonstrated experience developing and managing to budgets
• Ability to analyze data and reports to identify issues and develop recommended courses of action in proactive fashion
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to debate, dialogue, negotiate, influence and work with others collaboratively and constructively
• Demonstrated strategic planning ability
• Experience delivering development programs under fixed price contracts preferred
• Experience managing teams that are geographically dispersed
• PMI's PMP Certification preferred
• Bachelor Degree in a technical discipline, Science or Business Administration, or equivalent experience
• Travel required: 50-75% within the United States; potential for global travel
