The Director of Software Development, Enterprise Solutions will help build Blackbaud’s growing Enterprise business. They will lead a dynamic technical team in creating new releases of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM, Blackbaud Direct Marketing, and Altru products. They will drive all aspects of product delivery including design, development, quality assurance, and scheduling. This is an opportunity to be innovative, creative, and drive Blackbaud’s vision for Enterprise solutions.

Organization

The Director of Engineering reports to the Vice President of Engineering, CRM in the Research, Delivery and Operations (RDO) division. This position includes teams that operate out of multiple geographies worldwide including Cambridge, Charleston and Glasgow. The Director of Engineering is expected to work cooperatively with other business leaders, especially in product management, support, professional services, and human resources.

Objectives
Build and release new versions of Blackbaud Enterprise CRM, Blackbaud Direct Marketing and Altru on schedule, with great quality, usability, and the right feature set for our clients.

Coordinate with other product teams to deliver seamless cross-product solutions.
Work with senior leadership from the Business Units to assure successful implementation and rollout of Blackbaud solutions to our enterprise clients.
Recruit, develop and retain management team and staff
Develop the staff to their full potential through training, coaching and providing feedback.
Work with other Directors of Engineering to refine and improve our practices for software development, team roles, and success measures. Work with department managers to help them build and manage high performing teams.
Resolve escalated client issues. Solicit client feedback on product design and usability and use that feedback to create products that delight clients.
Partner with Professional Services staff to deliver robust application interfaces that enable the services team to build seamless custom solutions and satisfy our clients needs to integrate with other critical business applications.
Anticipate market and team needs or risks and proactively pursue projects and activities to head off issues.
Identify and pursue new market opportunities when appropriate.

Requirements/Experience
Minimum of ten years’ experience in software development, with at least five years delivering SaaS (cloud-based) and/or Enterprise products.
Experience managing a cross-functional software development team consisting of 50+ Software engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Analysts in an agile development environment.
Demonstrated technical leadership in the areas of software architecture, database design, web development, quality assurance, load testing, and performance testing.
Proven track record of delivering high quality releases on schedule and handling the demands of a fast –growing team with multiple simultaneous releases, developing SaaS applications from concept to product launches and post support activities.
Experience working in or with non-profit organizations is helpful. A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university is required and a master’s degree is preferred.
