Amazon’s Human Centered Design group is seeking a talented, passionate Creative Director to join our growing User Experience group. This position is a leadership role and you will own setting the design direction for new Last Mile products and services. You will work collaboratively with product managers, marketing manager, developers, operations, domain experts, users, executives, and other designers – leading design throughout the planning and development lifecycle for a multitude of unique and different experiences.
You will also be responsible for conducting reviews with senior leadership with a strong ability to communicate customer and business impact of designs and other creative work.

Because the scope of this position extends across all creative work, the ability to balance high-level, holistic reason with detail-oriented design is imperative. You must be a critical thinker with a good design sense, have a strong technical background, and an instinct for making things simple.

Human Centered Design is a multidisciplinary group at Amazon responsible for the design of many exciting products including Prime Now, Amazon Flex, Amazon Locker, and other new initiatives. Teams of designers, design technologists, writers, researchers, and producers work collaboratively in the HCD design and prototyping studio to create the next big thing for customers.


Responsibilities include:
· Leading the UX and creative efforts for new Last Mile products and services. This includes managing a multidisciplinary team including designers, rapid prototypers and user researchers.
· Create the vision for, and drive the design of, innovative solutions to a wide variety of user experience challenges across multiple platforms and technologies.
· Work strategically with executives and other senior leaders within the organization to create and deliver useful, usable and desirable user experiences.
· Use user data, analytics and business requirements to assist in developing product requirements and user stories.
· Present design work to the product team, and executives for review and feedback.
· Produce user flows, wireframes, prototypes, user interface specifications and final graphics.
· Use diverse inputs to identify and define exciting new concepts, opportunities, and customer problems.
· Lead brainstorming sessions and design reviews.
· Evangelize prototyped concepts to a diverse audience, in both ad-hoc and formal presentations.
· Stay on the cutting edge of what’s new in technology and user experience, identifying opportunities to and experimenting with applying new technologies and interaction patterns to customer problems.
· Grow and develop other UX professionals.
· Contribute to, and curate, the group’s best practices for human-centered design, prototyping, and research methodologies.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 8+ years of experience as a user experience designer or interaction designer, or similar role.
· 3+ years of experience managing a collaborative multi-disciplinary team including designers, researchers, rapid prototypes, writers, and producers.
· A portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating human-centered design solutions and showing your ability to turn ideas into a strong and unique creative vision.
· Experience leading design for a variety of form factors including: iOS, android, tablet, and web.
· Experience leading and delivery full life cycle design projects, form design strategy through execution.
· Fluency in best practices for mobile information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
· Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. Fluent in English with a proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior management.
· Expert skill level with standard design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Omnigraffle and Dreamweaver.
· Experience working in a start-up style environment, where rapid iteration is encouraged.
· Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience designing products for global markets.
· Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, user interviews, contextual inquiry) is a strong plus.
· Experience in a highly agile/scrum environment.
