Job Description:
Reporting to the VP, Global Tax Operations, the Sr. Director Global Tax Operations acts as a key member of Global Financial Tax Reporting Team, primarily responsible for supporting the preparation, analysis and review of the global effective tax rate for the Company; directly overseeing US GAAP and local statutory reporting requirements for the Latin American and certain North American markets, as well as the tax compliance for those same markets; and also providing technical oversight for those same markets.
In addition the role is responsible for managing and overseeing the department budget, and also supporting the VP, Global Tax Operations with preparing all senior leader communications, including preparing materials for Board, CEO and CFO.
The role will have direct interaction with the SVP, Global Tax, SVP Controllers, SVP Global Finance, Local Finance Directors and managing outside advisors.
Responsibilities
*Responsible for supporting forecasting the effective tax rate (ETR) in accordance with APB 28, monitoring and reporting the ETR and all tax implications in the quarterly and annual financial statements
*Liaise with other organizations within Global Tax including Transfer Pricing and Tax Planning to ensure that tax initiatives are accurately and timely recorded and disclosed in the financial statements
*Key member of internal Tax Legislative Team monitoring and responding to legislative proposals both on the US and international fronts employing best in class modeling
*Partner with Accounting Advisory Services to address tax implications of changes in accounting guidance and responding to FASB issued exposure drafts
*Identify and implement various process improvements to facilitate financial tax reporting and tax compliance reporting requirements centered on increasing controls and making processes more efficient
*Support the preparation of board, audit committee and senior management communications, presentations and other various ad hoc projects for SVP
*Regularly present key updates on significant matters to Tax Leadership
*Document key controls for tax risk areas and monitor compliance
*Develop and monitor budget for the department
*Oversee federal and state income and major European international tax return preparation
*Provide oversight and manage external advisors from a quality, budget and relationship perspective
*Regularly present technical tax updates to the department and other organization in Pfizer Inc.
*Ensure US and Local GAAP financial tax reporting and tax compliance for Latin American Region and certain North American countries is complete and accurate and be accountable for the timeliness, completeness and integrity of output
*Establish BEST practices and implement processes which will lead to an efficient and accurate product for the compliance and financial tax reporting functions
*Work with Shared Services to ensure all interactions between the tax and accounting organizations are planned and managed in an efficient and coordinated manner
*Build effective relationships with the Tax Division Colleagues globally, Markets and Shared Services
Qualifications
*Degree in Finance or related; CPA/MBA strongly preferred
*10 - 15 years experience working in Big 4 Accounting and/or a large complex multinational organization, with specific experience in ASC 740
*Must have experience working in high pressure environments with the ability to multitask and make independent decisions as well as work to tight deadlines.
*Must demonstrate leadership and ability to work as part of a team.
*Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to synthesize complex matters into accurate and concise summary documents for senior leadership and board level review.
