Job Description:
Strategy & Operations is looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Strategy and New Business Development to join the team. Located in Silicon Valley, New York, and Dallas, and organized directly under the CEO, the team provides a productivity frontier for diversely talented individuals to champion and drive change that positively impacts the organization. The Director of Strategy and New Business Development will lead new business strategy and execution from concept to commercialization to meet management expectations.
He or she will also be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships at all levels internally and externally with strategic partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Partner with leading incumbent and disruptive early stage companies to lead new business (e.g. Samsung Pay, Gear VR, SmartHome, etc.) opportunities that drive growth.
Develop strategy and business cases (including financials) for making go/no-go decisions on new strategic initiatives that deliver ROI that impacts Samsung.
Establish and cultivate relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and lead end-to-end business planning and execution for relevant projects.
Present and make new business and/or process recommendations to the company's senior leadership, and champion implementation to achieve desired results.
Monitor industry and market trends continuously evaluating new business and/or technology partnership opportunities for Samsung.
Serve as an industry subject matter expert and deliver insights in one or more mobile, consumer electronics and/or wearable technology areas.
Desired Skills and Experience
Background/Experience to qualify for this position, the following minimal background and skill levels are required:

MBA degree from a top business school with distinguished academic record. Technical, computer science or engineering degrees preferred.
5-10 years of relevant work experience from high-tech/”new age” companies focusing on internet, media and/or software and services.
Early stage or start-up experience is preferred.
Strategy consulting experience from top-tier firms is preferred.
A proven leader with the ability to inspire greatness in others, develop and lead new business initiatives working with leading Silicon Valley companies.
The ability to align key internal and external stakeholders and galvanize multi-faceted partnering businesses towards common objectives.
Proven success executing complex strategic and operational initiatives that have achieved tangible industry impact.
Superior collaboration and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively across all cultures and levels.
Grows talent and builds A+ team. Excellent communications and display of clear thinking process.


Necessary Skills/Attributes for this position the following skills and abilities must be demonstrated at a proficient level:

Develop and maintain excellent working relationships at both executive and working levels within and outside the company.
Cultivate and execute new strategic partnership projects and oversee resulting work-streams to completion.
Possess a deep knowledge of relevant technologies and the competitive dynamics of the mobile device, consumer electronics and wearables industry landscape.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all information learned, shared, used or stored in the Legal Department.
Approach tasks and work assignments with a sense of urgency; handle high volume in a time-sensitive framework with strong sense of urgency and internal customer focus.
Work well under pressure and tight deadlines, and negotiate on behalf of function to come to agreement by managing communications through discussions and compromise; issues can be strategic, long-term operational and/or tactical in nature.
Handle frequent business travel (40%+) generally to locations in US and Korea”
