Purpose

Manage the complete footwear product creation process and team for the assigned Business Unit. Act as a strong advocate for footwear product integrity by working closely with Business Units, Design, Tier 1 suppliers, LO’s and all related support services to uphold quality standards and achieve BU and GOPs strategy and targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Regional Head of Development to set short and long term Development allocation strategies that seamlessly support the Footwear Sourcing Strategy.
• Achieve the goals and objectives set for the business unit through partnership with your business counterparts as listed below
• Be an effective representative of your area of responsibility towards the Head of Brand Operations Footwear, other GOPS functions and your business counterparts in Marketing and Design..
• Manage the material development and costing related aspects within the Development Team to ensure the BU objectives are met and that strategies (i.E. material tool box strategy, costing framework) set forth by the Functional Heads of Material Development and Costing are supported.
• Take responsibility in alignment and cooperation with Marketing and Design to meet/or exceed category margin targets for your area of responsibility.
• Manage the direct development process with your key Tier 1 partners to achieve optimum results on all key deliverables.
• Ensure high quality data entry and data maintenance activities at Tier 1 suppliers.
• Yield optimum results in regard to removing low value adding work in your area of responsibility, but still meet expectations in regard to accuracy and timely completion.
• Lead and develop strong and diverse (project) teams (objective setting, assessments, training, personal development) towards a common goal in an effective and motivating manner by fostering a productive cross-category cooperation with the other leaders (peer group).

• Continuously monitor and improve workload and organizational efficiency with the support of IT-systems, data and analysis of own area of responsibility.
• Be responsible for on time Color Way Activation performance through strong interfaces with Marketing Management, Design, Materials Development and Sourcing, Quality, Costing, and the Supply Chain Management and Sourcing Organization.
• Lead the seasonal pre-allocation process based on service and product needs.
• Manage Budget to target.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to lead and motivate a team
• Ability to create, plan and deliver presentations.
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
• Fluent in English; German an advantage.

• MS office skills.

Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications

• Four-year college or university degree.
• Technical training in footwear engineering and product development, knowledge about sourcing.
• At least 7 years of work experience in the athletic footwear industry, specializing in product development, design and / or marketing.
• Proven record of leadership and accomplishment in the field of footwear development.
• Exposure to the latest in materials, components, processes, and concepts.
