Job Description:
As Director of Engineering, you will lead the North American Homes Engineering Group, part of Honeywell's Environmental and Combustion Controls, a global producer of comfort control systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. ECC is part of Honeywell's $14 billion Automation and Control Solutions (ACS).
Principle Accountabilities
Ensure the North America Homes Engineering Team delivers a robust stream of new, innovative electronic comfort and indoor air quality products that directly impact North America Homes top line and bottom line performance.
Establish and implement the budgetary and project planning, organization, direction, coordination, and control of all Homes Engineering Product Development Projects. Manage project cost, quality, and schedule in a cross-functional matrix environment.
Plan and Manage an engineering budget of $15M annually.
Develop funded multi-generation product plans for all comfort control and indoor air quality product lines.
Closely and continuously interact with the Homes Business Leader and Product Line Managers to ensure engineering and marketing direction are tightly linked.
Ensure that all production operations technical issues are rectified in a timely manner.
Develop and manage the Advanced Technology and Research plan for North
America Homes.
Ensure that appropriate technologies are identified, researched, and developed for timely introduction in Honeywell products and systems.
Develop a world-class Engineering Team by actively managing the careers, training, and performance of the N.A. Homes engineering team.
The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and marketing teams to develop and deliver customer driven solutions. Building strong relationships will be critical to success. To be successful in this role, you must be a mature self-starter who is able build respect, and influence others in an entrepreneurial fashion.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
Demonstrated competence in the specification, development and production of low cost, high volume electronic products for consumer applications.
Working knowledge of RF design, embedded microprocessor Hardware and Software design for low cost consumer products.
10 years of progressive leadership in a fast-paced consumer electronics product development environment.
Demonstrated competence in leading the development of complex electronic hardware and software systems.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years of product development in high volume electronics manufacturing.
5 or more years of management experience including performance management, development, and recruiting.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree is preferred.
Six Sigma Certification (Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) preferred)
Systems engineering product development experience, highly preferred.
Successful new product development in consumer market.
Demonstrated business acumen.
Global citizen.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Must be self directed, mature, entrepreneurial individual.
Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful external relationships.
Influencing and negotiation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix- team environment.
