Serve as the Discipline Director for the Defense Software Engineering organization within the Electronic Systems Sector. The position will report to the Vice President of Engineering, Electronic Systems. The Software Engineering Discipline Director is responsible for all aspects of Software Engineering’s performance in support of the US Defense Businesses. As such, the Software Engineering Discipline Director is responsible for software design, application of core engineering process, talent development, and performance on programs.
Specific Responsibilities Include
• Provide the leadership to develop and maintain an effective Software Engineering organization
• Meet directorate financial objectives (Direct Labor, Indirect Expenses, Utilization and IE rate)
• Partner with the Business Area Engineering Directors (BAEDs) and other business area leaders to
ensure business objectives are achieved
· Define the strategic direction for the Software Engineering organization in alignment with business needs strategies and plans.
· Develop and maintain a Software Engineering roadmap aligned with the needs of the ES Defense business.
• Provide software solutions to support Prime Mission Equipment development
• Attract and retain staff to support the business; lead the staff in resolving any resource or staffing issues
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and with Operations to ensure efficient and effective
software implementations
• Develop strategies for improving and optimizing organizational performance
• Develop and maintain measures related to directorate performance, and continue the maturation of
quantitative management practices to ensure predictable performance by the software engineering
organization.
• Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization
• Ensure proper application of process based on the size and complexity of the project
• Establish goals, performance standards, budgets and staffing plans
• Establish and maintain industry and university relationships related to Software Engineering curriculum
