Director Environmental Brand Design PepsiCo New York

Job Description:
The Environmental Brand Design Director is a senior design leader responsible for the creation, management, and execution of all aspects of creative development for restaurant/hospitality and retail consumer experience design. Responsibilities include clearly defining project parameters, strategic development, creative leadership and executional oversight. Successful candidates will demonstrate superior ability to inspire and lead cross-functional teams, and champion and drive, from ideation to execution quality design practice across physical, graphic and interaction-design challenges, leading internal design staff and external partners.

Position will advise and help manage marketing budgets attributed to external design agencies..

Accountabilities Deliver completed branded, environmental experience projects meeting strategic and creative objectives as well as all timeline and budget constraints.

Establish clear communication, status, and project workflow with AFH on day-to day design center priorities
Regularly reviews the status of projects with appropriate leadership to verify that Company and Division expectations are met.
Lead/manage multidisciplinary teams within the design center to successful outcome on all priority AFH projects
Identifies and promotes self-initiated consumer experience projects that generate critical business value for PepsiCo, creating new and stronger customer and consumer brand experiences

Qualifications:


10+ years of restaurant and hospitality design experience, retail experience a plus (preferably in a global and matrix-ed environment or working as consultant from a design firm for such organizations). The ideal candidate will demonstrate abilities in persuasive presentation skills, environmental design strategy, conceptual ideation, rendering and presentation skills, technical proficiency, as well as high proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and AutoCad.
Through past experience and case studies, shows strong ability to create and enhance consumer experience at all points of consumer brand interaction
BFA or BS required in architecture, interior architecture
Extraordinary design taste and skill
Must be willing and able to travel 20% of the time
Can effectively influence senior levels in the organization across regions and functions; can get things done through formal and informal channels
String creative insight to inspire, advise and influence peers and indirect reports during creative development of projects
Effectively communicates (verbally and written) with internal stakeholders across all levels
Ability to ask the right questions, understanding the scope of a project to determine best next steps, stake holders, team requirements, timeline and budget to successfully drive a project forward
Ability to work closely with marketing and insights to create a clear creative brief based on brand strategy, positioning and business goals
Works well with others to deliver results; keeps others informed and can share successes broadly
Proven ability to effectively incorporate research (including primary and secondary research) in strategic design processes
Ability to understand the technical, social and emotional values that have critical business significance
Track record of building strategic efforts across business units through identification of market trends, consumer and consumer behavior.
Rich knowledge and understanding of consumer and brand behavior, as well as In-store and In-category dynamics, and how those insights inform design
Can effectively envision and address idea feasibility
Strong project management and design management skills
Compelling presentation skills
Ability to work in ambiguous and dynamic work environment; is comfortable with risk and uncertainty
Effectively communicates (verbally and written) with external agencies and stakeholders
Ability to negotiate scope of work based on clear design brief with external design agencies
Ability to contribute strategic design solutions in collaboration with customer representatives, AFH marketing and sales to drive key customer initiatives
Supports the PepsiCo Design Organization in building and cultivating a strong external design network.
