Job Description
The Director of Publishing is responsible for planning and implementing the general publishing program of the Library of Congress and for managing the operation of the Publishing Office, including supervising Publishing Office staff and contractors. The Director extends the range of the Library's publishing program through cooperative agreements with outside publishers and other organizations, agencies, or individuals and through the use of electronic technologies.
The Director encourages and supports the development of publications that describe or interpret the rich and varied collections of the Library, its history, buildings and services. Ensures that these publications are edited, designed, printed, and marketed to reach the widest readership with maximum effect.
The Director fosters, maintains and manages relationships with cooperative publishing partners. In consultation with the Office of General Counsel (OGC), initiates and develops joint ventures and cooperative publishing agreements with external publishers to produce books and other products that increase knowledge of the Library’s collections.

The salary range indicated reflects the locality pay adjustments for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan area.
The incumbent of this position will work a flextime work schedule. This is a supervisory, non-bargaining unit position.
