Responsibilities
Are you passionate about user experience and visual communications? Help reinforce Verizon’s story and premium brand with internal employees by broadly influencing graphical design and the visual communications elements used throughout the organization’s training materials.
The first area of responsibility focuses on managing and directing visual communications for Verizon’s Learning & Development teams. A suitable candidate should have prior experience in graphics design, user experience design and/or “design thinking” methodologies utilizing current best practices. A candidate should also be fluent in graphics and design terminology and able to clearly convey a vision or concept to a team of artists and developers. Visual communications include 2D/3D graphics, illustrations, photographs and more; they should also reinforce Verizon’s branding and image.

The second area of responsibility pertains to managing and directing a small team of content developers who will work with the graphics team to design and develop training content. This may be in the form self-paced courseware, print based media, video, audio podcast, and more.

Required
Lead and manage the design team, including assign projects, coach and evaluate designers in the execution of prescribed designs.
Own the overall project, not just the design, effectively support projects and teams, and demonstrate creativity, effective oral and written communication, listening and decision making skills.
Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects with time, resource or budgetary constraints without compromising outcomes or deadlines
Energetic, creative, flexible and driven to achieve results with minimal supervision
Prior experience in graphics design, user experience design, visual communications and related fields (5+ years)
Proven skills and educational training in art direction, typography, layout, composition, color theory, and information design; multimedia/motion graphics design experience a plus
Proficient in current best practices and methodologies for graphics design, user experience design and visual communications
Expertise with industry-standard creative development software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop/ Illustrator, Microsoft PowerPoint)
Able to collaborate with geographically dispersed teams using electronic communication and collaboration software/services
BA/BS degree in Graphic Communication discipline



Preferred
Prior experience (3+ years) managing teams of creative professionals
Prior experience with design, development and publication of data visualizations
Prior experience with design and development of advanced media (e.g. motion graphics, animation, videography, audio production)
Prior experience with industry-standard e-learning development tools (e.g. Adobe Captivate, Storyline, Camtasia, Audacity)
