Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to identify cost savings opportunities across the company and lead cross-functional teams to achieve optimal total cost of ownership.
Responsibilities
Work with internal customer groups to establish specifications across media, production, agency fees, digital and social, and market research.
Develop category sourcing strategy and lead a cross-functional team to execute the strategy and process change.
Perform market analysis, benchmark analysis and spend analysis for focused categories.
Manage internal customers and stakeholders up to and including the C level.
Track and manage internal demand for assigned commodity categories; direct internal customers and stakeholders to preferred suppliers.
Lead or facilitate the supplier selection and negotiation process with Agency CFOs.
Establish savings tracking methodology, perform savings tracking and report realized savings on a continuous base.
Ensure realized savings ties back to departmental budget.
Identify, select, and manage suppliers who have the capacity and capability to meet the needs of the business.
Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationship for key suppliers across multiple business divisions.
Put in place contracts for strategic purchases and large spot buys when no existing contract exists.
Setup eSourcing and eAuction events.
Leads & facilitates negotiations, in conjunction with the business owners to establish contract terms and conditions.
Reviews and approves contracts in accordance to company terms and conditions.
Applies knowledge of contract law in contract activities.
Interacts with Legal and other company departments and agencies to analyze risks associated with agreements and develop language to minimize exposure whenever needed.
Helps establish contract development policies and procedures.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience as a sourcing and/or procurement professional, preferably with a major financial institution or payment card company
10+ years of experience managing spend categories, including developing and managing category plans and developing sourcing strategies
In-depth understanding of the supplier marketplace for the assigned category(ies); deep industry and/or professional relationships with supplier in the categories a plus
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing strategic initiatives and programs, including but not limited to the execution of major, global sourcing events (e.g. global RFP)
Excellent written, oral and presentation skills and an ability to synthesize information and make clear, concise recommendations on course of action
Knowledgeable about contract terms and conditions
Significant contract and agreement negotiation experience, including development of negotiating plans and strategies
Experience managing internal customers and users of the category’s goods or services and experience tracking and directing demand to preferred suppliers
Ability and willingness to travel frequently (approximately 10% business travel expected)
Proven track record of managing and driving teams to achieve and exceed established goals and objectives
Strong relationship management skills and ability to influence at a senior management level both internally and externally
High level of self-motivation and initiative, and ability to operate effectively as a team player
Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and to identify new ways to approach old problems
Understanding of the tactical aspects of procurement transaction processing and ability to negotiate terms and conditions that will simplify transaction processing complexities
Ability to identify and pursue multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver superior results
Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree in business, economics or public policy preferred
Professional accreditation in sourcing, procurement or inventory management a plus
