Opportunity Detail We are a technology focused company that serves billions of auctions and generates terabytes of data per day. Our high throughput, low latency systems are critical to the success of the business and so is the team that looks after them. This role requires an experienced, hands on Director to join Thinknear Engineering and help guide this and supporting teams to the next level of success.
As we aggressively grow our business, this role has enormous potential for the right candidate to play an expanding, key role in developing Thinknear Engineering’s culture, values, technical direction and execution through: * Provide technical direction and oversee software development, testing, deployment, and system monitoring. * Participate in a team-based, collaborative Agile development process ranging from in-depth high level design with code reviews in addition to fostering a team that drives continuous deployment, works with large scale systems and handles overall infrastructure deployment. * Provide code reviews for ongoing development efforts as needed from a mentorship perspective. * Provide general feedback on design in addition to implementation to team members. * When necessary, actively contribute to new feature development and bug fixing.

* Hire engineers and development managers to grow the business and to bring Thinknear vision into focus. * Provide Agile leadership while driving best practices in addition to hiring and growing the team. Requirements * Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, related major or proven in a similar role * Solid Computer Science fundamentals * 10+ years experience in software development (at least 5 years in one of Java, Ruby, C++, C#) * 5+ years designing systems and mentoring more junior engineers * 5+ years experience in Agile development methods, at least 3 of which in leading Agile development teams * 3+ years building low-latency, high-volume systems with high availability requirements * Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, distributed systems, data structures, concurrency * Experience developing in Unix * Comfortable in a small, high-growth start-up environment
