Director - Technical Bra Design - L Brands - New York

Job description
This leadership position is responsible for directing the technical design function supporting bras for Victorias Secret located in New York. This role also supports the design team in the prototype development process for bras. Work in collaboration with the Global Technical Design team to drive the overall strategy of the technical design function including the conceptual technical development for all bra assortments for the brand. Act as strategic thought partner for Global AVP of Technical Design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide support to Regional Technical Design during all preproduction and development activities.
-Support Technical Services in training and calibration for all regional partners and vendors.
-Maintain Brand standards in partnership with the Design and Merchant functions.
-Ensure Brand integrity through calibration of VS Standards.

-Manage workload and development for the New York technical design team.
-Manage garment fit and approval; develop, review and monitor fit block usage.
-Provide oversight for the development process and give clear direction for set VSP standard construction. Partner as appropriate to ensure consistency between departments.
-Collaborate with merchandising and production and sourcing to ensure deadlines are met, resolve garment costing issues and recommended alternative component options.
-Collaborate with raw material and product development teams.
-Partner with Quality Assurance/Control Directors to anticipate and resolve quality issues in garment construction process.
-Constantly review tools and processes to find higher productivity and best practice.
-Partner with cross-functional teams to align on product performance standards as it pertains to brand integrity.
-Ensure that products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit quality, standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications.
-Ensure the training of all aspects of Technical Design to ensure consistent understanding and application of fit and comfort standards, including review of associate growth and development, assessment of skills, abilities and knowledge, alignment and training of technical partners.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Technical education in garment fit and construction to degree level or equivalent work experience.
-Extensive knowledge of structured bras, fabrics, garment construction, specifications, fit and quality control
-Proven patternmaking knowledge; practical patternmaking experience preferred
-Extensive experience in garment fitting and construction knowledge.
-Understanding of digital pattern capabilities
-Strong leadership and management skills; proven ability to train, develop and mentor talent
-Ability to lead in a cross functional team environment
-Minimum of 10 years of technical experience, gained while working within the clothing or intimate apparel industry.
-Experience using a product development technical specification program
-Excellent organizational skills
-Domestic/International factory experience preferred
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
-Exposure to Adobe Illustrator or similar computer-aided sketching program
