Director - Systems Operations - Jasper - Santa Clara

Job description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and disciplined Director, Systems Operations to lead our data center activities at our Santa Clara, CA office. This is a highly visible position and a great career opportunity to showcase your skills!

Responsibilities:
Build a highly agile and operationally precise Systems Administration team to lead Jasper’s fast growth and dynamic systems requirements.
Develop and support Jasper’s computing and storage systems, including setup and support, as well as ensuring comprehensive and accurate monitoring of systems and storage capacity, performance and proper operation. 24 x 7 support is required.
Provide computing services for production as well as other computing environments, including Dev and QA.

Ensure backup of all data to schedule and restored per requirements
Initiate and champion development of necessary scripting and other SA related programming tasks
Ensure configuration management is always current to the operating state of the computing environments
Primary point of contact and responsibility for service monitoring
Identify and ensure adequate licenses are deployed for all of Jasper’s uses
Monitor and ensure proper capacity is in place for all current and future needs in timely fashion
Implement tools and software packages necessary for the proper operation and scaling of our infrastructure

Desired Skills and Experience
B.S. in Computer Science, IT or related equivalent
8+ Years experience in an equivalent production environment including the successful monitoring of critical processes and functionality
Passion and drive for high-quality work, able to make and keep demanding commitments, and a track-record of “excellence” in customer satisfaction, leading a team for excellence
Team player, self-starter and capable of building strong relationships
Strong leadership and experience in recruiting, managing, motivating and retaining a highly talented staff
Demonstrated experience in scaling computing infrastructure & broad technical expertise
Prior experience in building and deploying Virtual Machines in a mission-critical environment
Excellent understanding and experience in the administration of Linux Servers, Networking & Storage, including managing groups with large numbers of Linux computing resources and storage resources in a high performing, reliable manner
Prior experience and expert technical knowledge of enterprise network monitoring applications such as: Nagios, Cacti, ZenOSS or similar open source tools
Fluency in vendor/contract management, with solid negotiation skills
Track record for problem solving skills with the ability to define problems collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and implement cost effective solutions
Strong written, verbal, presentation skills and organizational skills and ability to delegate and hold team members accountable for timely execution and delivery
Pluses include cellular communications experience, web app experience and production SaaS experience
Global travel required -15-20%
