We are now looking for a Director, Business Development to join our team in the SF Bay Area, CA.
Business Development has a mission to Identify, Develop, and Execute opportunities for both organic and inorganic growth. Within the boundaries of Nokia’s strategic focus areas, you will evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, divestments, and other strategic assignments on a global level, across all operating units within TECH. To achieve our goals you will partner with Nokia Technologies’ business units and functional groups to gather intelligence and prepare plans to enable our senior executives to make optimal investment decisions for the company.
The Business Development Director will be effective at doing deals in a highly complex and fluid environment. Success is measured by our ability to provide thought leadership, execute transactions, and manage virtual teams of functional experts.
As a Director Business Development, your primary role is to lead projects from ideation through deal completion. You are also expected to be highly pro-active in finding and seeking out new pockets of innovation – both internally and externally – and pushing these ideas forward on the strategic agenda through interaction with executives.
Your responsibilities include:
Taking a “first chair” position on important strategic topics
Evaluating opportunities for organic/inorganic growth from a strategic, GTM and financial perspective
Providing robust, independent analysis and business modeling
Interfacing with senior executives of the Nokia business units
Forming and managing multi-disciplinary deal teams
Preparing TECH LT-level documentation to present and advance strategic opportunities
Maintaining excellent relationships with important external partners
Exploring new business opportunities and markets
Desired Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have already successfully demonstrated the following key capabilities and behaviors:
Transaction management (Partnerships, complex deals, Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestments, Out-Licensing)
Advanced financial modeling and analysis
Strategy definition and translation of strategy into opportunities for organic/inorganic growth
Project and stakeholder management
Strong interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
Furthermore, we expect a Director Business Development to be:
Technology and industry savvy
Objective, non-political, open-minded, and nimble
Willing to travel and sustain long periods of intense workloads
Self-sufficient and pro-active
Willingness to accept accountability for results
Requirements
Minimum 10-12 years of relevant experience in mobile services, devices and/or internet-based technology businesses. Prior experience in strategy, strategy consulting, finance, corporate development, or investment banking.
Demonstrable success in leading major business development projects as “first chair”.
Commercial and/or technical university degree with a master’s / MBA degree.
The role is based in Bay Area, CA. Requires regular travelling to Finland
