Marketing Director - Draper University - San Francisco
Job description
We are seeking a Director of Marketing to ensure that our message hits entrepreneurs across the world so hard that they would be fools to consider any option other than Draper University. Our marketing team is lean and mean, so you’ll have the opportunity to work in a very broad capacity at a quickly growing startup with lots of room for growth.
Responsibilities include managing the marketing team, along with functional responsibility of Product & Content Marketing, Digital Marketing, Demand Generation, Social Media, Event Marketing, Website Management, Alumni Relations and helping to manage our PR programs. We need a key marketing leader to amplify our message and deliver it to the world.
You will be called upon to be a Jack/Jill-of-all-Trades. We’re not so small that you need to take out the garbage, but not so large that some other team will pick things up if you drop them.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Provide the planning and leadership to the DU team by ensuring that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet and exceed the goals of the Marketing plan.
Assume overall responsibility for developing the annual marketing plan
Develop and manage outbound marketing programs that include a strong social media component across all DU assets and delivery mechanisms
Manage the DU social media presence including Facebook, Twitter and blogs
Understanding current and potential customers
Developing the marketing strategy and plan
Managing the website
Management of the marketing mix
Measuring success
Managing budgets
Ensuring timely delivery
Writing copy
Approving images
Developing guidelines
Making customer focused decisions
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
8+ years marketing experience preferably in the startup space
Hands-on skills: Proven ability to design and implement tactical plans to carry strategic projects to completion
Successful SEO/SEM campaign experience
World-class communications skills
Deep contacts for freelance writing, video, design, etc.
Proven ability to forge productive relationships and align strategies with different teams, including product, sales, and customer-facing
Proficiency in Salesforce, ActOn, Google Analytics
B.A. required; MBA a plus
A natural team player and have a desire to work with others for broader success.
Operates successfully in a rapidly changing, ambiguous and undefined environment.
Experience in a dynamic start-up or high growth environment.
Self-sufficient, self-motivated. Takes initiative!
