Director - Brand Management - Sheraton Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide - New York
Job description
Lead Brand Marketing Strategy to drive Revenue, RPI, and Esteem across the Sheraton global portfolio. Lead agencies, Brand Design, and brand team in development and execution of brand positioning that supports the overall brand and key initiatives. Focus areas include developing tactical marketing that drives bookings and revenue through digital marketing (search, re-marketing, prospecting), identifying and leading brand programs, driving social and digital strategy, and coordinating global campaigns with divisional counterparts.
- Lead teams (including divisonal marketers, PR, brand design, media agencies) in the development of annual marketing plans that drive bookings, revenue and RPI behind a $50MM combined co-op funded marketing plan.
- Brief agencies on key brand objectives, communication strategies, and target audiences, and evaluate and guide the development of marketing that meets those objectives
- Partner with Digital team resources in the development of marketing tactics that drive bookings, including tactical offers on Sheraton owned channels that optimize bookings and ROI
- Partner with Sales on development of B2B marketing & promotional plans and key tools to help support the sales force in driving group and corp transient bookings
- Manage team in development of new global offers and packages to drive transient bookings (e.g. Club).
GENERATE CONSUMER DEMAND THROUGH BRAND AWARENESS AND POSITIONING INITIATIVES
- Lead development of global marketing initiatives, communication strategy, and key marketing materials
- Lead brand positioning efforts, including development of visual identity, collateral, and tone of voice
- Approve collateral, photography, video and digital assets, and maintain brand assets on internal tools including Starwood Asset Library
- Create content calendar for social and digital messaging across the Sheraton portfolio.
- Partner with cross functional brand team on the development of internal training programs, webcasts, newsletters and internal marketing campaigns for driving awareness and implementation of new initiatives with associates
BRAND AMBASSADOR
-- Lead the communication of brand updates, brand marketing plans and overall brand strategy to key influencer audiences, including owner presentations, monthly Steering calls, B2B / Sales audiences at trade shows, annual global and regional brand meetings, GM orientation, hotel openings, Sheraton Day, etc.
-- Brand guardian - lead and drive brand teams to deliver against brand strategy and vision. Develop and supervise overall visual identity and design direction as executed through marketing platforms by external and internal agencies
CROSS FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT AND COMPETITIVE AWARENESS
- Partner with Development to create compelling marketing tools and materials that drive interest in the brand among global owners and developers
- Analyze competitive activities and create appropriate action plans.
TEAM CULTURE
- Drive team culture of marketing organization through a focus on key Starvoice deliverables - training / career development, rewards & recognition and prioritization
Desired Skills and Experience
Brand management/brand operations experience is required, with experience leading an organization in the development of multi-media marketing plans. Heavy experience in digital is important, and hotel operations experience a plus.
Agency experience and Creative background highly desired.
BA/BS is Required; MBA a plus
Supervisory/Management responsibility and ability to lead cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization
Project Management and Time Management skills - must be able to multi-task with tight deadlines
Right - Left Brain balance - knack for innovation and creativity paired with strong attention to detail and analytics
Minimum of 7+ years experience in brand management with ability to balance divisional operational / revenue needs with need to maintain long term brand equity
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with owners and General Managers, primarily related to driving initiative compliance
Understanding of the dynamics of the upper upscale marketplace including key trends, consumer needs and relevant messaging and programming to appeal to the target
