Global Launch Director - Varroc Lighting Systems - Plymouth

Job description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position reports to the VP, Global Operations, and is responsible for successful launch of new lighting products by achieving manufacturing plant expectations, manufacturing controllable financial commitments, customer quality, and delivery requirements.
Lead forward model launch team to achieve cost, quality, timing and customer satisfaction deliverables.
Oversight of New Program manufacturing assumptions including Investment & New Technology
Lead technical team members in development and implementation of global best practices
Development & Implementation of Standard Launch Timing for Manufacturing Readiness
Lead Manufacturing Feasibility engineering process (AAA) through TDR & AAA
Enforce Manufacturing Feasibility (AAA) through TDR & AAA, and support Red Issue Director reviews.
Development of Global Technical Experts to Support Feasibility Activity
Lead communication of issues and resolutions with excellent up, down and across communications to all functions/departments in VLS

Lead Launch Readiness Reviews on all programs
Implementation of global standard Launch Processes, Documentation and Tools
Manage Overall Completion of Manufacturing VPDS Deliverables
Complete Lessons Learned Read Across to all Regions
Oversight for Implementation of Launch Processes & Launch Room
Oversight to Achieve Successful Completion of Customer Run at Rate Event
Manage & Approve Launch Cost Expense to Budget
Manage Global Capital cost to meet/exceed Budget
Oversight for Scrap & Labor to Program Budget
Facilitate Plant Approval for Manufacturing Process at Hand-Off
Mentor & Develop Regional Launch Managers
Provide Guidance for Advanced Manufacturing Engineers’ Projects through CDP
Overall Team Support for Global Operational Technical Issues
Manage Global Capacity & Expansion Business Cases as Needed
Manage Low Cost Country/Low Cost Specification Development for Tooling
Manage Global Initiatives for Equipment Re-Use, Standardization, and Cross Loading
Manage Global Process Standardization Initiative for headlamps, rear lamps & LED headlamps
Manage resource balance and Succession Planning for team.

Desired Skills and Experience
YEARS EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of related experience
DEGREE STRONGLY PREFERRED: Bachelor or Master Degree in Engineering
DESIRED COMPETENCIES/EXPERIENCE:
Exceptional project management skills and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and direct the team to support the critical business needs
Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to impact and influence business results where cross-functional collaboration is required
Demonstrated ability to think strategically
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills with a process and data-driven methodology
Experience working in various positions within the plant environment
Familiarity with tooling and technical requirements for manufacturing and assembly of plastics
Automotive industry experience
Experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing a global team
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 20 - 40% travel required. Casual overtime expected.
