Director - Actuary - Prudential - Hartford


Job description
This individual will be an integral part of the Individual Life Model Development team. The team is responsible for model enhancements for our innovative products as well as modifications needed by regulatory changes or industry trends and formula database publishing process for various functions. The model enhancements include but not limited to researching and developing new or existing logic and implementing them, simplifying the modeling processes while strengthening controls around them, standardizing input and output of the models for more automated end-to-end process, ensuring adherence to the model governance standards, and monitoring and communicating leading best practices. The various functions include Asset Adequacy Testing, GAAP & Stat Earnings Forecast, Capital Management, Economic Capital, and Embedded Derivative Valuation. It is a dynamic team collaborating with other actuaries and its function is very critical to the success of Individual Life modeling areas.

The Individual Life Insurance is undertaking the conversion of actuarial modeling systems for the Prudential and acquired Hartford blocks of business. This position will also have an opportunity to support converting actuarial systems from MG-ALFA, MoSes, and TAS to GGY AXIS where the candidate will be able to gain deep understanding of diverse product features and actuarial model software. The conversion team will work very closely with other actuaries and consultants including partners from Corporate Actuarial Department.


Desired Skills and Experience
Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation (FSA), or near-FSA with at least 5 years of actuarial experience.
Strong hands-on modeling experience with actuarial modeling software is required.
Modeling experience in MG-ALFA, MoSes, TAS or GGY AXIS is plus.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Must be able to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of audience.
Highly motivated and conceptual thinker who is able to collaborate in a team environment or work independently and take a leadership role in a variety of assignments.
Hands on experience managing actuarial projects a plus.
Must be resourceful and proactive in resolving questions/problems.
Strong organization and documentation skills
