Job description
Essential Job Functions
Ensure compliance, including workflow production oversight, of the monthly close and the financial statements (schedules and notes) for all SEC filings, including 1933 Act and 1934 Act filings (10-K’s, 10-Q’s, 8-K’s, registration statements, prospectus and prospectus supplements, statement of additional information and proxy statements).
Ensure accurate and timely filing of SEC filings under the 1934 Act. Primary author of the MD&A section of the 10-Qs and 10-Ks, including the maintenance of supporting documentation, and coordinate the teamwork for collaboration on preparing the MD&A section.
Actively coordinate with the third party accounting service provider to ensure the satisfaction of the external auditor’s information requirements and queries throughout the annual audit and quarterly financial statement review cycles.
Coordination with other CNL team members on the workflow production schedule of the CCT annual report to shareholders that includes the 10-K.
Oversee the coordination of, and compilation of, and filing of, the Form 10-Q and Form 10-K with the financial printer, all functions.
Collaborate with CNL tax professionals to ensure appropriate disclosure of tax matters in financial statements.
Preparation, or review, of a limited set of calculations to support specific numerical representations that are disclosed in financial statements.
Researching GAAP accounting issues, pronouncements and SEC reporting issues relating to investment company financial reporting and CCT’s financial reports.
Ensure compliance and participate in the documentation of financial statement workflows, or revision of workflows, in connection with the mapping and testing of internal controls and procedures by internal auditor.
Actively work on budget accruals and accrual adjustments on a regular basis, execute instructions to the sub-fund administrator regarding required adjustments of operating expense accruals.
Review CCT invoices (operating expenses) and set up invoices for CCT officer approvals. Review calculations for key expense items (advisor fees) and tests.
Collaborate with other department leaders on investment holdings and ensure financial reporting disclosures about investment holdings are complete and in accordance with GAAP and SEC requirements.

Desired Skills and Experience
Required Competencies
Must have experience in preparing Forms 10-K and 10-Q, including the preparation of complete financial statements, including footnotes, for SEC reporting, and working with auditors regarding the external and internal audit and review procedures.
Must have a very good working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and SEC reporting requirements and be comfortable researching these accounting/reporting issues and proposing solutions
Must be organized, detail oriented and have good written and verbal communication skills
Must be a self-starter, a team player, multi-task minded and flexible
Must be experienced with Word and Excel and Powerpoint
Must be an effective manager and have experience with other associates in a financial reporting/accounting teamwork environment
Intellectual curiosity to understand and evaluate the financial reporting practices of other business development companies.
Education & Experience Requested
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
CPA required
Previous audit experience with big Four accounting firm or other public accounting experience is required
At least six years financial reporting/accounting experience with supervisory experience required
Investment Company (1940 Act) accounting knowledge is strongly required
Previous experience with SEC filings of public investment companies is required
Previous experience with accounting for financial instruments is required
Experience in technical research required
Work Schedule Requested
Salaried, exempt position working weekdays during normal business hours.
Typical workweek is 40 – 45 hours with additional hours for peak work periods.
