Director - Technology Portfolio Management - NBCUniversal - California Universal City


Job description
Responsibilities
The Director, Technology Portfolio Management provides strategic/tactical leadership and oversight for creating, implementing and driving efficient and effective Technology Portfolio and Project Management processes in support of business objectives. He/she will collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders from both Technology and the business to ensure proper coordination and execution of activities related to the delivery of technology projects. They are responsible for overseeing the West Coast Technology project portfolio from demand origination to project closure; managing governance around PMO processes; managing project escalations; PPM and reporting tools; regular reporting and training needs. The position requires significant interaction with cross-functional departments within the company and excellent communication and relationship management skills to influence and resolve issues.



Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Manage consolidated portfolio(s) for business CIO(s) objectives and with a focus on governance
• Provide consistent and effective portfolio dashboards, scorecards and reports
• Collaborate with senior leadership on analysis of in-flight and proposed projects
• Assess general health of programs/projects, including financial budgets
• Ensure that portfolio benefits are defined and managed during the portfolio lifecycle, and that the realization is monitored
• Application of best practices for project portfolio execution and management
• Ensure compliance with the Technology PPMO standards and processes
• Area coordination for project efforts that span across NBCU Technology groups
• Point of escalation for project stakeholders or requestors with issues directly related to project management
• Develop/foster relationships with project team members and external partners
• Manage portfolio via internal tool sets and reports
• Responsible for daily leadership and management of Program/Project Managers, if applicable

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Business or related field
• PMP and/or PMI Methodologies certified or 5 years of formal project management experience
• Successfully managed a large portfolio (+10 active projects) with multiple business stakeholders
• Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of the organization including managing through cross-business area or business unit prioritization discussions
• Experience in implementing and maintaining accurate key performance measures relating to PMO and project management best practices such as building work breakdown structures, Waterfall/Agile/Scrum methodologies, etc; experience with traditional SDLC methodologies
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Project and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and possess solid computer skills.
• Willingness to travel
