Senior HR Director - Talent Development - JCPenney - Plano


Job description
JCPenney is searching for a talented, experienced, and innovative Sr. Director for its Talent Development team. The Sr. Director – Talent Development will direct the identification, development and delivery of all training strategies to increase the job effectiveness for the Stores, Supply Chain and Home Office Merchandising Organization and support departments. S/He will work closely with the VP, Talent Development, HR Generalists and EVPs and VPs across the Enterprise ensuring that training needs are aligned with business objectives and outcomes can be measured. The Sr. Director will also work closely with the Directors and Sr. Managers within talent development to ensure that training and development opportunities are provided to the Enterprise leaders that support Leadership Development, as well as positional knowledge and skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Directs the design, development and delivery of all position-specific training courses for the Stores, Supply Chain and Home Office with a focus on driving company performance and improving customer satisfaction. Home Office training and development would include supporting Buying, Planning & Allocation, Product Development & Sourcing, Marketing, IT, Finance, and HR.
• Ensures that learning solutions are engaging and focused on building the knowledge, skills and abilities of every Associate so that they operate at peak performance within their current assignment and remain successful throughout their JCPenney career.
• Prioritizes and reallocates developmental resources (staff, budget, other) as needed to provide learning solutions that further the Company’s Long & Short Range Plans.
• Assesses and coaches the training team to ensure they are skilled in: analyzing training needs, designing engaging training targeted to learning objectives & outcomes; developing training using sound methodology and in a way that is most conducive for the learner; creating training that can be immediately transferred or applied to the job; measuring the ROI of at least 10% of all training programs developed, certification (if appropriate).
• Maintains awareness of new learning technologies and develops best practices by being a learner of the training industry, and incorporates new practices or technology into the development process as appropriate, so that JCPenney’s vision of being a retail industry leader is fulfilled.
• Promotes opportunities that share best practices and leverage learnings across the Enterprise.

Core Competencies & Accomplishments:
• Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or Organizational Leadership & Learning or equivalent degree required; Post-graduate degree preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive Training, Leadership & Development experience required.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proven track record of improving business results through training leadership.
• Ability to interface with many levels of management using interpersonal and negotiation skills to accomplish primary objectives.
• Demonstrated Strategic & Critical Thinking skills.
• Strong business acumen; previous retail or hospitality experience a plus.
