Director - Product Management - Domino's Pizza - Detroit
Job description
Overall responsibilities include directing and leading the Product Management Team charged with managing the spend of an approximately $800 million spend for Product Management (combined food and non-food) products. Develop product strategy to support Domino’s Pizza and its franchisees by optimizing quality, service and efficiency to our Supply Chain Centers. Achieve operational goals including cost reduction, quality, and productivity to deliver business objectives that drive EBITDA. Development of supplier relationships that maintain the highest degree of integrity and professionalism that will promote lasting partnerships to ensure a best in class supply base. Lead negotiations on select major national purchasing contracts and establishing processes for the continuous improvement of Domino’s Pizza’s procurement effort.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
(40%) Strategic Planning and Communication
Drive a market-leading product strategy for products and direct the product line life cycle
Develop and own the product roadmap and ensure that it meets market needs and business objectives
Accountable for assigned category’s product line sales and profitability
Identify opportunities to leverage our global volume to improve quality and/or cost/value of the world-wide product procurement effort for our stores.
Work with QA, R&D, Marketing, Finance, and other entities as needed to develop, re-engineer, and source new, improved products and those needed to support promotions and product launches
Communicate and explain key contract points to other divisional leaders as necessary to secure proper authorizations required by Domino’s Pizza Schedule of Authorization
Ensure changes are communicated in suppliers/contracts with Supply Chain Centers.
Work with the SCC Directors and Regional VPs to maintain a high level of internal customer satisfaction by ensuring uninterrupted supply of products while maintaining ideal inventory levels.
Direct and lead participation in industry associations/committees that align with corporate objectives, promote positive brand awareness, and provide greater industry knowledge to our team
(40%) Team leadership
Communicate a vision to the team for ongoing product management and purchasing strategy
Develop annual objectives that will realize that vision
Lead Product Manager, Lead Buyer, and Product Analysts, in technical, business and data analysis to improve food product offerings (Director – Food only)
Evaluate and manage team and individual performance
Provide direction on responsibility / priorities / tasks / projects
Interview and hire new team members as necessary
Train team members on proper procedures
Provide guidance and direction with team member developmental plans
Approve, plan, and monitor the execution of team activities
Lead, coach, support, and inspire product management team to grow and support new initiatives
(20%) Purchasing
Lead negotiations of major product categories with key suppliers to drive competitive advantage for Domino’s Pizza. Key decision maker along with VP of Product management in awarding business to competing suppliers.
Drive continuous improvement of supplier performance
Manage the product portfolio including P&L of existing production and identification of new product opportunities
Identify and implement process improvement for sourcing activities
Maintain strong working knowledge of movements and trends in the key commodity markets that impact our cost of goods. Work with supplier resources and consultants that will improve our ability to make critical purchase decisions that will positively impact our food costs.
Develop a sourcing calendar to manage activities 12 to 18 months in advance
Develop a savings tracking methodology that is updated on a period basis and coincides with finance actual volume movements
Develop a contract status tracking system
Utilize Ariba as a tool for improving overall procurement function
Ensure team compliance with Internal Audit requirements / recommendations
Coordinate with legal with legal team to ensure products and agreements protect the company, and ensure regulatory compliance
Develop and implement a central repository for all legal documents to be used by Purchasing and QA
Work with marketplace, suppliers, Supply Chain Communications Manager, RVPs, and Supply Chain Center teams to identify opportunities and implement changes that will improve store unit economics through product and packaging improvements
Leverage our close supply partner relationships to drive increasing levels of sponsorship participation for World Wide rally events
Desired Skills and Experience
7 to 10 years progressively responsible experience in product/category management
7-10 years experience in purchasing food (or non-food) and packaging items for the food service industry
5+ years managing teams of product managers
Operational experience and understanding of multi department dynamics
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel)
Ability to manage multiple high-level projects simultaneously
Ability to prioritize duties and complete projects by stated deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
Strong problem solving skills
Solid foundation of financial management skills
Keen sense of urgency
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Must be flexible and a team player
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Customer service oriented with excellent follow-through
Bachelor’s Degree required- preferably in Business, Purchasing, or Logistics Management
