Director - International Communications - Eventbrite - San Francisco

As the Director of International Communications, you’ll be responsible for working cross-functionally and cross borders to oversee and drive a more global footprint for Eventbrite and develop a global communications plan of attack. From strategy to execution, your global communications work will spread the Eventbrite gospel far and wide - all while ensuring consistent global messaging with a little local flavor. About 60% of the job will be working on strategy and projects outside the US, with the remainder of work focusing on broader corporate communications.

You Will:
Partner with head of global communications to develop the global communications strategy that aligns with company’s vision and objectives and broadens Eventbrite’s reach around the world
Ability to not only strategize, but also create a tactical plan with comms partners (in countries where applicable) that maps back to the broader strategy, including creative, relevant and measurable PR campaigns and initiatives
Conceptualize and create content around data announcements that support the companies areas of focus and thought leadership efforts in various countries
Ability to know how to craft a good story - and one that resonates in local markets around the world
Hire and manage PR Manager, and work to divide work based on skill set and areas for growth
Create news out of thin air! - Find opportunities to communicate our story by leveraging data, product announcements, industry trends, bylines, speaking opportunities, marketing initiatives, etc.
Proactively cultivate and nurture media relationships to ensure Eventbrite is a “known quantity” in the event world and the many categories we occupy
Work collaboratively with other members of the marketing/comms team and colleagues in product and engineering to create and broadcast relevant and timely news
Draft and edit material and presentations for public speaking opportunities; and help team leaders prepare

Internationally-minded - You come to the table of every meeting and decision thinking about how you can improve our awareness and impact around the world
Proven track record - you’ve successfully placed stories with solid positioning in a wide range outlets internationally
Passion & dedication - we’re changing an industry after all. We need people who believe in what we are doing and bleed orange. No deadbeats, please
Collaborative nature - we’re a close family in the Briteland, and this role will work across many functions and across borders
Proven experience managing people (employees, consultants and agencies) internationally
Solid communication prowess - both written and verbal
Proven ability to act quickly and manage multiple projects and countries at a time
Flexibility - both in schedule and attitude. Schedule - This role works closely with UK counterparts, but reports through HQ comms department. We need someone willing to be flexible when necessary for international calls and work. Attitude - Things change quickly in tech, and someone who can pivot and acclimate quickly does well
Tech-savviness - you don’t need to know how to code, but we do need you to leverage your consumer tech prowess to hang with the best and the brightest in tech media
Data digging abilities - know how to leverage data to help you tell a story
Positive attitude - we like coming to work, and a big part of it is working with amazing, positive, happy people
10+ years experience, at least some in global communications. This means being responsible for developing comms strategies and placing stories for your client/company for more than 8 years. A combo of in-house and agency experience a major plus, and international work is required
4-year degree in public relations, communications, journalism, international relations or marketing
