This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to lead a global virtual team of revenue recognition experts. Core Job Responsibilities:
The revenue recognition team is responsible for all revenue-related matters at MSLI including contract reviews, new initiatives and business model changes that may have revenue impact. Key areas are:

(1) New Business and Accounting Models
Assist in developing global standardized accounting processes for new businesses or product/service offerings.
Assist in developing reporting need for proper accounting for new businesses or product/service offerings.
Assist in scoping onboarding new businesses or product/service offerings for Global team and ROC resourcing.
Co-lead IASB/FASB Rev Rec Convergence planning for operationalizing the guidance
Work with Global Functional Lead and Corporate Accounting to give input into new accounting positions
Assist ROCs to consistently operationalize new and changing corporate revenue accounting positions and policies.
(2) Operational Excellence
Provide support to ROC teams and centrally document standard guidance ROC teams give for pre-sales technical revenue recognition reviews for specific issues.
Provide support to ROC teams and centrally document standard positions for ROC reviews of software and other contracts or amendments that require non-standard accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP.
Work with Corporate Accounting, the corporate licensing group, product business groups, sales teams and MS Operations groups to understand and resolve issues identified in the contractual arrangement reviews.
Drive ongoing training and technical expertise of our regional SMEs.
Drive global implementation of initiatives needed to enhance control compliance with US GAAP.
(3) Global Efficiency
Drive systematization and centralized documentation of upfront consultations working with Global Systems & Process Lead
Work with Global Functional Lead to drive optimization of global revenue recognition resourcing.
Work with Global Functional Lead and ROC Leads to drive an efficient vendor model while not sacrificing quality.
Work with Global Functional Lead to optimize global support to ROC teams to minimize process replication.
(4) Inform and Influence
Improve the understanding how revenue recognition guidelines apply to Microsoft offerings through regular education sessions, brown bags, summits and newsletters with key stakeholders.
Help drive the quality, frequency and consistency of sharing key information to our stakeholders.
Develop reporting for our stakeholders that provides clearer insight into the impact of the Global Revenue Recognition Team.
Bachelor or higher degree in Business Administration or Financial Accounting.
10-12 years of related work experience in a large information technology or public accounting firm.
Strong US GAAP knowledge and experience, with emphasis on ASC 985-605 and ASC 605-25.
Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to work under tight deadlines.
Ability to effectively lead virtually and influence across a broad spectrum of audiences and cultures.
Ability to quickly decipher very complex bundling programs for selling software and online services
Ability to lead a diverse, remote organization.
Preferences:
Active or inactive CPA license
BA/BS in Accounting
Experience calculating fair value for software, hosting or online services
