JOB TITLE: Director of Medical Affairs Therapeutics

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Medical Affairs is responsible for medical affairs activities focused on Therapeutics. Focus includes therapeutics related internal and external medical education initiatives, multi-national investigator-initiated trials, global reimbursement activities, strategic medical marketing efforts, and medical science liaison activities. Manages on-going contacts involving significant duty to key medical professionals and high-level representatives of select decisive professional organizations with whom the therapeutics business is founded. Serves as a primary scientific and medical resource for the organization. Manages a team of highly-trained and experienced professionals to accomplish business goals. Responsible for developing and converting therapy-awareness-related ideas into tangible results as determined by quantifiable metrics. Influences issues of critical importance to the vision and success of the company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Therapeutics Educational Leadership
Provide information internally and externally on therapeutic apheresis and related field including medical issues, trends, outcomes, literature and reimbursement.
Provide information internally and externally on neurology, immunology, autoimmunity and other related fields including medical issues, trends, outcomes, literature, and reimbursement.
Design, organize, develop, direct and participate in external medical education seminars and an unrestricted educational grant program.
Develop and maintain regionally based networks of leading medical physicians known as Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Work with KOLs to develop education events at international and national conferences.
Provide medical review and opinion as requested internally.
Ensure all regulatory and compliance internal and external guidelines are followed.
Creates solicited literature reviews for distribution by global sales and marketing in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Maintains company relationships with neurology and immunology related KOLs and academic centers in therapeutic area, and works with the Therapeutics Systems Management Team, translating relationships to business and research opportunities.
Continuous review of field related literature, monitoring of competitor activities, networking with experts and attending conferences to keep updated of medical and scientific developments in the assigned therapeutic area.
Proactively disseminates information about significant developments in the assigned therapeutic area to internal customers, providing analysis and interpretation about how the developments might affect the interests of the company.
Facilitate company wide therapy related training to sales and marketing and other related functions as appropriate.
Develop EMEA strategic reimbursement efforts and provide training to sales and marketing on these activities.
Primary responsibility for one multinational multicenter therapeutics related investigator trial.



People Development
Direct activities of up to 6 direct reports with wide span of responsibility encompassing therapeutic related medical science liaisons, medical affairs, reimbursement efforts, clinical communications, and medical marketing activities.
Manage initial development, recruitment and performance of therapy awareness team in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

Business Focus
Develop business cases for continued expansion of therapy awareness program in EMEA.
Work with customers to assist with data abstraction and publication of clinical data related to therapeutic apheresis, neurology, immunology, and autoimmunity.
Work collaboratively in cross functional internal corporate environment.
Handles unsolicited requests from healthcare professionals and decision makers with accurate, unbiased, balanced and timely answers and information about apheresis therapy, neurology, immunology or autoimmunity.
Manages therapy awareness related budget including educational grants, extramural research program, and clinical trials.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Up to 60% travel included international destinations is required.
