We are currently looking for a seasoned professional to lead our Content Acquisition team in the Americas. The Director, Content Acquisition will be responsible for negotiating and securing complex content distribution agreements with major content owners (e.g. record labels, music publishers, collection societies, podcasters, comedy networks and other non-music audio companies.)
Responsibilities:
Evaluate potential deal landscape; set strategy and priorities for the group
Monitor competitive landscape to inform strategic thinking and planning
Create analytical deal negotiations framework
Develop and analyze business models to support deal negotiation
Lead deal negotiations with potential partners; work hand in hand with legal and business affairs team
Ensure execution of key deal elements over time
Develop positive, lasting relationships with content partners
Manage a team of content acquisition professionals
Manage contract renewal process
Evaluate deal performance and ensure deals deliver desired results for the business
Desired Skills and Experience
A track record of managing a large number of account relationships, ideally related to media
Deep understanding of the music rights landscape in America
Execution of distribution agreements with collection societies
Strong network of professionals in the music community
Ability to understand and analyze contract terms
Ability to close complex deals at a fast pace
Great communication and organizational skill
Ability to adapt to a quickly changing, fast-paced environment
8+ years of experienced in a related role
BA/BS required
Preferred:
Experience working with major and independent content owners
Demonstrated ability to create and execute content acquisition strategies
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making, and comfort with pro-forma financial and operational analysis
Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success building buy-in for an innovative and bold strategic vision
Strong bias for action; the ability to juggle multiple priorities and excel in a lean work environment
Street smarts; willingness to roll up the sleeves and do whatever is necessary to meet team goals
MBA preferred
