The Project Manager will typically lead a project of £1-2m however, could be as much as £5pm+ budget and is accountable for managing to this budget, flagging Risks & Opportunities as appropriate.
Market Complexity
DBS delivers services to all Diageo markets and across all functions. The Project Manager will typically lead a projects with a complex multi geography/functional/process/system footprint. Risk to business operations, change impact, and compliance/controls is in the mid to high range
Leadership Responsibilities & capabilities
The role is expected to play a broad and impactful role in delivering the DBS Productivity Agenda. The role holder will be required to move between strategy and operational details to set priorities for a diverse project team so as to keep them aligned and focused to ensure brilliant execution.
There are a number of key senior stakeholder both internally and externally with whom effective business partnering relationships are essential (BRMs, GM’s, FD’s and 3rd party Partners and Leaders). Stakeholders and sponsor will typically sit on market or functional leadership teams within the organisation.
Purpose of Role
This role will lead the delivery of medium to high complexity projects with multiple work streams or deployments.
Top Accountabilities
Plans, Organises & Communicates: Proactively anticipates impacts of the current and future project phases, thinks through issues in advance, anticipates and resolves before issues develop. Ensures the team understand what to do in the next phase and is ready for it in advance. Can translate the plans and issue into business speak that makes sense to business stakeholders
Owns end to end project delivery: Inspires and leads the team to deliver against the plan and timelines. Creates integration across diverse team members with different individual styles and backgrounds. Holds project team and stakeholders to account and can have tough conversations in a positive way
Accountable for a programme with rigorous governance: Establishes at the outset clear & robust governance models and uses that governance to drive decisions & outcomes, drive engagement and management of stakeholders
Delivers business outcomes: Ensures everyone is engaged behind the same outcome. Everyone understand the agenda and is clear on what they need to do to deliver against it. Resilient and resourceful, can problem solve and does not let problems stop them- they figure out a way to move forward
Manages Change: Builds credibility with stakeholders by:
Presenting facts in a clear way with recommendations and proposals
Follows through, does not drop the ball
Holds the tension until the right answer is reached
Has their own view
Qualifications and Experience Required
Experience of delivering projects within the functional area of the Portfolio they lead
Excellent organisational leadership capability
Demonstrated project management and methodology experience
Demonstrated capability to build and maintain good business relationships
Excellent program Governance skills,
Excellent pan cultural impact and influencing skills
