Staffing is the top people priority within the McDonald’s U.S. Restaurants, with an anticipated need for hiring more than 1 million team members per year over the next three years. The Director of Strategic Staffing will bring passion, ingenuity and a ruthlessly dedicated focus to drive the strategic recruitment vision for the future of McDonald’s Brand Restaurants. This Director will partner with U.S. HR Leadership and a franchisee-led team, the National People Team, to revolutionize attraction, selection and retention of restaurant employees like never seen before at McDonald’s.
The Director of Strategic Staffing will:
• Evolve and continuously update restaurant recruitment collateral and resources, allowing McDonald’s to grow an “employee-obsessed” culture and be recognized as America’s Best First Job
• Be a technology guru, improving attraction for the U.S. restaurants and providing both company leadership and franchisee partners leading innovative recruitment solutions with proven ROI
• Energize the McDonald’s system to recruit with a hospitality mindset and execute training to ensure employees with the right skillset join the team
• Bring McDonald’s Employee Value Proposition to life by fostering a fun, positive culture in which people feel respected and choose to stay with the company
• Identify and implement the tactics needed in the U.S. People Plan to ensure a strong and cohesive direction in the area of staffing
• Create standardized reporting systems that will regularly lead to the identification of solutions and improvement areas for recruiting programs; these reports will be socialized with the U.S. Chief People Officer, HR Leadership Team and key stakeholders providing insights for further decision making and strategy formulation
• Lead special U.S. projects focused on mitigating staffing gaps that impact restaurant execution and essentially strain those in the restaurants
• Lead tactical recruitment efforts of McDonald’s corporate employees with direct leadership of a project manager and a recruiting team
• Develop key recruitment analytics for the System in order to grow a data-driven and technically skilled recruiting team
• Manage vendor relationships for any and all recruitment related projects, setting targets, monitoring progress and reporting to the System
• Report to the U.S. Chief People Officer and lead the US Recruitment Team
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must possess the following:
• Minimum 10 years working experience in a senior recruiting position, in a fast-paced and highly competitive business
• Must have a proven and successful record of managing full-cycle recruiting processes consisting of sourcing, screening, on-boarding, coaching, and terminating
• Experience directly managing recruitment teams, with a passion to lead and influence others to positively impact business results
• Prior experience with a high focus on hospitality would be beneficial, but not mandatory
• Expertise in current recruitment technology trends, and an avid learner of emerging tactics
• Excel at developing and monitoring key data analytics for recruitment systems and tactics
• Impeccable aptitude for building internal and external relationships to best understand the needs of the business in a rapidly evolving environment
• Reputation for being a process-driver and thought leader with strength in developing and deploying complex change initiatives
• Bold creativity without fear of presenting originative concepts to leadership
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (executive presence)
• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Human Resources or Business
