The Director of Messaging & Communications for the VMware Dell Execution Team (DET) is responsible for developing strategic messaging, and defining and executing an internal and external communications strategy to support the Global VMware Dell Execution Team (DET).

Globally, across our Enterprise, Commercial/General Business and Public Sector businesses, we have a potential $1B opportunity for incremental revenue synergies over the next 3 years. The VMware Dell Execution Team (DET) leads GTM Strategy and Sales to capture this growth opportunity and is responsible for building and operationalizing the FY18 revenue synergy plan, managing the overall Dell Technologies GTM P&L, and ensuring alignment of VMware GTM motions with Dell and Dell EMC Corporate strategy teams.

The position will report to the Senior Director of Marketing for VMware DET, and work closely with the DET Executive Leadership team.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities for this position include:
Messaging Creation: Messaging for VMware DET GTM & Sales Programs, including:
Joint VMware–Dell Offerings, Services, Solutions
Offering Value Propositions
Target customers, market opportunity, routes to market
Enablement Resources and Programs
Dell Launches (e.g. 14G) for VMW DET Team
Quarterly Sales Plays (assist GTM team with Sales Play Launches)
Sales Programs: Comp/Quota programs, Incentives, VMware-Dell Sales Rules of Engagement (ROE), Deal registration programs
Program Launch Plan Development & Execution: Development of the plan & ownership of overall execution including:
Building a launch plan based on clear communication goals, input from key stakeholders and the needs of the target audience
Executing a set of tactics in support of the plan with clear measurements to demonstrate success or areas for improvement
Executive Communications Support: Support the DET executive team to prepare and communicate quarterly results, particularly with presentations for eStaff, Dell leadership and VMware BU leaders.
Internal / Team Communications & Engagement: Develop and lead execution of communications framework for ongoing/regular communication with following audiences:
Core DET Team
Extended DET Support Team
VMware Business Units
General VMware/Dell Organizations
VMware/Dell Executive teams (working in conjunction with Brandon/Susan/Ian)
Communication Framework to include:
Quarterly All-Hands calls,
Newsletters (as required), etc.
Information hosting sites (e.g. Vault)
Editorial Calendars
Launches (Sales Plays, Offerings)
Win Stories (Working with Global Marketing References team)
Cross-Functional / Cross-Company Collaboration: The individual will also be responsible for working with relevant Dell Technologies and Dell-EMC counterparts to support communication of VMware-Dell GTM programs to Dell Sales teams. Additionally, this individual will partner with the Corporate Communications teams as appropriate to drive internal and external communications related to the Dell Execution Team.
This role combines both strategic thinking to define messaging, launch and communication strategies with tactical execution.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; MBA/masters degree preferred
Requires 12-15 years integrated marketing, partner marketing and/or communications experience, preferably in the technology/software industry.
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, newsroom-style editorial skills, along with the ability to develop, write and edit interesting pieces of content for publication across a variety of areas of the business
Ability to engage and advise executive level team members to drive correct message and content for optimal message augmentation and amplification
Experience hiring and managing external marketing / communications agencies
Experience developing messaging for Customer-facing Sales teams
Must be comfortable in being able to influence and negotiate with many different personalities and managing different programs. Multi-tasking to drive results will be key to success.
Proven experience in working in virtual settings across large geographic areas; demonstrated cultural awareness and diversity skill
Ability to self-motivate and self-direct
Excellent listening and responding skills, communication skills, strategic focus, and executive presence
