Procurement Director Software Procurement Dell Austin

The Procurement Director will manage strategic commodity teams in the Software category with emphasis on Internal Use, Dell Software Group and Enterprise Solutions business units. Develops supplier strategy, long-range plans, global supply chain optimization, and builds supplier relationships for several category areas in partnership with business partners. Responsible for setting and achieving performance goals/metrics to improve total delivered/lifecycle value in regards to category cost, quality, technology and/or services. Responsible for implementation of Global Operations initiatives and process improvements and for getting feedback from regions on the success of Dell’s Global Operations programs.
Responsibilities
-Directs the efforts of others in the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the group.
-Manages the hiring, staffing and maintaining of a diverse and effective workforce.
-Responsible for career development/planning, performance and pay discussions of team members.
-Drives cross-functional strategic/operational commodity teams to drive Dell towards a competitive advantage in the market place in specific areas such as Time-to-Market, Availability/Capacity, Cost, Quality, Technology and Service Level.
-Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials and/or outsourced services.
-Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Manages governance to ensure compliance with policies and processes.
-Drives development and implementation of tools and processes to improve management practices for commodities and/or spend categories, and shares that learning with other groups.
-Accountable for improving supplier performance and negotiating contracts and global pricing.
-Calibrates and shares best practices with counterparts across the globe.
-Implements procurement policies and procedures.

Qualifications

-Software procurement experience
-Vendor/Supplier/Partner relationship management experience
-People management and development experience

Preferences
- Software development experience
- Undergraduate degree and 10+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience.
