Facebook is seeking a leader for our Memory/Silicon Sourcing organization supporting the design and manufacturing of our massive data center infrastructure hardware. In this role, you will be responsible for memory and silicon sourcing across our global infrastructure ecosystem, including the commercial, operational and technical performance of our technology and supplier base. Together with your team and numerous internal partners, you will be responsible for quality, product and material availability, and cost that spans the server, storage and networking space. This role is based at our headquarters in Menlo Park, CA
Responsibilities
Develop overall vision, strategy and execution plan for the memory/silicon sourcing function
Develop, manage and refresh individual and customized technology and commodity sourcing strategies for each actively managed technology (CPU, DRAM, GPU, ASICs)
Develop deep technical and commercial relationships with executive management at core silicon suppliers. Influence supplier technology roadmaps to ensure Facebook’s system architecture and commercial requirements are met
Hire, train, develop, and lead a team of memory & silicon technology and component sourcing professionals responsible for complete commercial and product life cycle support spanning the concept, prototype, pre-launch validation, and mass-deployment phases, while successfully managing technology transitions
Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships at the executive level
Work in partnership with the Infrastructure Hardware Engineering team to develop an approved and qualified supply base, develop strategic partnerships that address our memory & silicon needs and, on an ongoing basis, continuously improve supplier performance
Partner with Hardware Engineering and the Server/Storage Sourcing team to continuously improve overall system-level landed cost and identify strategic trends in Facebook’s design practices that will have an impact on procurement
Develop end-to-end set of business capabilities and supply chain performance required to scale the memory & silicon business ahead of the needs of the infrastructure
Partner with Finance to ensure financial reporting is reliable, accurate and reported on-time. Drive process improvement in the reporting function including leading system automation efforts
Partner with IT to identify key long term supply chain and business process capabilities required to achieve scale. Actively participate in the development of an IT architecture and capabilities roadmap
Define negotiation strategies and manage the creation, negotiation and compliance of memory/silicon sourcing contracts
Identify, develop and deploy key process and operational capabilities that continuously improve the speed, quality and cost of output within the sourcing team
Develop and implement should-cost and market priced models to achieve best in class pricing. Identify and manage supplier performance improvement programs, leading continuous improvement efforts relating to memory & silicon supplier performance in cost, quality and availability/delivery
Minimum Qualifications
MS in supply chain/operations or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
15+ years of relevant sourcing and operations experience in Memory/Silicon commodity and technology management, including demonstrated success in managing overall supplier performance
Demonstrated ability to hire, train and develop sourcing and supply chain teams
Demonstrated experience interfacing with and establishing commercial and technical relationships with senior management at memory & silicon suppliers
