Director Flight Operations Airbus Atlanta

This role will be responsible for scoping the initial team of UAV operators, as well as sourcing and managing UAV pilots (both internal and external) and a drone training infrastructure. This position is based in Atlanta, GA and will have a 30-50% international and/or domestic travel requirement per year. The position reports directly to the President of this new group at Airbus.
Primary Responsibilities:

Write, build and implement the staffing plan in alignment with the strategic goals for flight operations in the US.
Build out training plans and infrastructure for this new group to enable us to scale our operations across the US and other countries.
Work with other business partners to grow resources for the training facility.
Work with the software team in the US and Europe to drive the requirements for tools needed to grow our services business. This role will speak with customers and use their own experience to provide requirements to create effective tools.
Develop an inventory system to manage and maintain all Airbus owned aircraft. Also work with all hardware vendors to source aircraft, sensors and parts.
Develop requirements and source a local flight testing facility.
Position Requirements:

Minimum three (3) years' experience managing flight operations for UAVs.
Experienced leader who has managed 10-15 pilots directly or networks of contractors.
Familiar with building out training programs from scratch and personally leading training.
Experienced with flying both multi-rotor and fixed wing UAVs, including both gas and electric powered aircraft.
Holds a current FAA private pilot's license and/or remote pilot's license.
Experience sourcing and managing aircraft from a variety of vendors.
Demonstrated experience of hours in the field operating aircraft in a variety of environmental conditions.
Comfortable operating in the US and around the world.
Must be familiar with the various drone software tools used to operate commercial UAVs.
Experiences/Education Preferred:

Military and strong commercial aviation background experience preferred.
Bachelors degree in Engineering preferred.
Familiarity with the US and EU drone regulations.
