Reporting to the Head of US Pensions, New York office, US & Canada Institutional Group, the Managing Director will be responsible for developing and maintaining key pension relationships
Build industry relationships, and a desire to cultivate prospective clients to bring incremental relationships to BlackRock
Work with various senior members of the team to develop complex solutions for clients, while mentoring Associate and Analysts on the team
Grow assets under management while continually improving and enhancing the client experience
The candidate will have experience in the asset management industry, as well as a familiarity with the target market pension plans and investment consultants.
Understand key drivers of success, various metric schemes and have a working knowledge of our competitors.
Intellectual ability and interpersonal skills to establish his/her credibility with the senior plan sponsors in the industry
Ability to use independent judgment, forge good working relationships with regional and business counterparts, and be a good team player.
Skills/Qualifications:
Design and implement an aggressive sales strategy for clients and prospects. Meet predetermined targets for net-new revenue, new mandates, and meetings.
Identify and diligently pursue new investment opportunities through consultative dialogues with investors. Focus on strategic products for the group as well as mandates that will have the most commercial impact.
Proactively manage existing relationships – identify and aggressively defend at-risk business.
Record client activities and opportunities in CRM systems on a timely basis.
Develop product fluency across BlackRock's investment options - including fixed income, equity, hedge funds, real estate, private equity and fund of funds.
Work collaboratively with partners within BlackRock to meet clients’ needs and objectives.
Lead support staff on assigned accounts to service clients and implement sales strategy.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to the staff’s overall development.
