We are seeking a Research Associate that possesses strong research and technical expertise and project management skills and demonstrates aptitude for strategic thinking and problem solving. The Research Associate is responsible for the management and delivery of custom market research studies, ongoing monitoring assignments, media analysis (both traditional and social) and other secondary research from proposal writing through final study deliverables and the day-to-day client management that the project requires. Additionally, the Research Associate should have specific experience using insights to drive marketing, brand development, and overall business goals.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities run across Primary Research methodologies (quantitative, qualitative and communities) and Secondary Research (monitoring, measurement). This includes, but is not limited to:

Development of the proposal – understanding client’s objectives, scoping project, developing appropriate methodology to meet objectives, and pricing
Oversight and management of the project plan including management of analyst(s) and relevant colleagues and support staff
Day-to-day management and interface with client contact; provide guidance on creation of study design, surveys, qualitative and quantitative methods and approach to analysis
Day-to-day management and interfacing with partners/teammates; across geos and with Edelman
Leading the development of research design, sampling plan, questionnaires, moderator guides, tab and banner plans, and analytical plans. Collaborating with analyst to ensure that client objectives are being met throughout the course of the project (primary focus)
Development of research design, specifications, coding framework, media universe, sampling plan, reporting template analytical plans and timeline. Collaborate with analysts to ensure that client objectives are being met throughout the course of the project (secondary focus)
Responsible for interpreting research data and insights and working closely with analysts to create a compelling ‘story’ that meets project objectives and is near client-ready for VP review and input.
Responsible for analytical process and the development of the research results that clearly and concisely answer the research objective and provide value to the client, including client deliverable, presenting analysis, implications and recommendations to client
Manage large, global, complex research projects and/or several research projects simultaneously
Understand key client information including general business strategy, products and services offered, and key customers
Manage project financial reporting and do so in a profitable and timely manner

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in related field
3+ years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research
Demonstrated experience in media analysis/measurement related to public relations, marketing and communications
Strong expertise in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint – preferably with an eye towards presentation design
Knowledge and experience using a wide variety secondary research tools such as social media analysis platforms, Talkwalker, Sysomos, Factiva or Lexis/Nexis, fact-finding resources, and published market or financial analyst reporting
Demonstrated verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
Solid detail orientation and ability to multi-task
Ability to work independently, with strong work ethic and adherence to deadlines
Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously, including time and budgetary oversight
Demonstrated effective client management (internal or external) skills
Relationship building, business development, and client management
Effective synthesis and communication of research insights
Knowledge of the languages of marketing, public affairs, branding, communications, and general business strategy
