The Director AFC Model Validation is responsible to ensure these models are effective through assessing; the quality of data used in models, soundness of model design, model performance metrics, governance processes and is responsible to assess the overall completeness of AFC monitoring coverage. The candidate will utilize their strong AFC knowledge, AFC risk acumen and mathematical skills to define and implement the AFC Model Governance and Validation Framework. The candidate will develop and lead a team of similarly skilled individuals that will perform a critical challenge function to AFC model development teams, operations / information technology teams and AFC investigations.

Key responsibilities:

In partnership with the Global Head Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) IT Strategy and AFC Regional Heads, develop and implement the strategy for building an effective and sustainable AFC monitoring program.
Develop and implement the Global AFC Model Validation and Governance Framework that meets Deutsche Bank model standards, regulatory guidance and industry peers.
Create and lead a team of risk professionals with diverse backgrounds in data analytics, data mining, statistical analysis, metric and reporting development, AFC Compliance and varying risk disciplines.
Provide an effective challenge function to AFC model developers, operations / information technology and investigations to ensure that models and automated monitoring controls are effectively mitigating AFC risks.
Establish and execute a schedule to ensure all AFC models (transaction monitoring, country risk, client risk, client screening, etc.) are validated in a risk appropriate timeframe or on defined trigger events.
Define standards to be used in the creation and optimization of new models and across AFC (e.g. sample sizes, error rates).
Design and implement a mechanism to assess the monitoring coverage of AFC risks across all product lines globally (e.g. Risk Coverage Database).
Support the AFC program through defining key metrics and reporting requirements, as needed.

Ensure Global MV framework is documented for training and audit purposes.
Support the AFC Strategic Response Group projects.
You will have:

Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, MIS, Information Management, or Statistics
Excellent knowledge of AML Transaction Monitoring systems particularly Oracle Mantas
Demonstrated experience in analytics platforms (SAS, R etc) for data mining and statistical analysis
At least 5 years of direct experience in Financial Crime Compliance, Risk Assessment or Quality Assurance in Financial Services, Banking or Regulatory environment; experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
Good at creating and delivering impactful presentation
Should be able to interpret complex requirements and be a self-starter
Solid project management/work flow management will be viewed positively
Be CAMS certified
