Director Quality, MongoDB Server New York

You are passionate about MongoDB and want to ensure that it is correct and performant. Mission critical applications excite you and you know what it takes to serve them. As Director of Quality you will build and manage a team of highly proficient Test and Performance Engineers to ensure the delivery of quality software to our users using both industry standard and leading edge techniques. In this role, you will design effective processes and software to be deployed not only to our Test and Performance teams but also throughout the MongoDB Server engineering organization. As a senior leader within the MongoDB Server team, you will inspire and lead your peers within the larger development team and foster a culture of Quality within the development process.

Responsibilities

Develop the profile for the ideal quality assurance engineer at MongoDB including skills, knowledge, and capabilities
Recruit, train and manage Test and Performance engineers
Establish required staff development programs and training including staff appraisals
Promote the Quality program and its associated emphasis on system quality as a core value in the MongoDB culture
Create capacity planning model for identifying Quality Team and hardware resource constraints and their impact to software releases
Help the overall development team achieve Continuous Integration
Develop techniques to expedite the release process without compromising quality
Determine, develop, and institute the optimal quality assurance engineering methodology for the MongoDB Database Server
Create internal quality metrics and associated targets for periodic internal assessment of development process and overall product success
Become familiar with all MongoDB technical components to assist in creating, managing and changing the test program as well as designing MongoDB for testability
Drive product roadmap and individual features towards improved observability and debuggability
Requirements

Proven success leading Software Quality Assurance teams in roles that had increasing supervisory and management responsibility
Deep experience with test automation, including having written automated tests
Demonstrated experience in release test planning, test case management, software defect analysis
Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and serve as a change agent
Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with various technical team leaders and members
Experience leading an engineering team
Experience with code coverage tools to measure automation effectiveness
Well-developed knowledge and experience with test automation frameworks and tools
Consultative working style, able to effectively interface with various levels of leadership
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience in technology and testing roles
