The Americas Instructional Design Leader – Associate Director is responsible for implementing evidence-based standards, processes, tools and templates for the design and development of learning and/or development related programs and content. This position consults with a wide range of stakeholders and guides all learning content design and development projects using standard processes.

This position aligns with and contributes to global design and development standards and provides strategy and direction for learning programs and content across centers of expertise, service lines, countries and sub-areas in the Americas. Projects are of varying levels of complexity.
The Americas Instructional Design Leader – Associate Director works closely with internal and external content design and development teams to execute the standards and processes and to monitor quality and costs. This position provides coaching and guidance to the learning deployment and learning technology teams to ensure that delivery technologies and deployment decisions are included early in the learning design process. This position serves and is recognized as a content leader and influencer in the field of instructional design.
Essential Functions of the Job:
• Implements evidence-based standards, processes, tools and templates for the design and development of learning and/or development related programs and content
• Consults, develops strategies and provides cross practice implementation expertise and support on learning design standards, tools and processes, based on identified needs
• Executes recurring design standards and processes, working to always improve efficiency and execution and understand and share best practices
• Drives the adoption of a common learning content design and development methodology across the matrix of stakeholders to avoid redundancy, share best practices and collaborate where appropriate
• Develops, maintains and leverages relationships with key stakeholders to influence key stakeholders on design standards, tools and processes and to facilitate collaboration and effectively share knowledge, technology, and resources
• Tracks and reports on content development costs and shows cost benefit analysis of standard processes
• Develops internal and external networks to leverage functional area knowledge throughout the firm
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
• Duties are varied in scope and require broad as well as specific knowledge and experience base to perform
• Possesses and applies deep knowledge and recognized principles and concepts in in the area of learning design and development to a wide range of work across Americas Learning
• Establishes a plan, determines priorities and defines the processes and steps required to achieve the identified objectives across all projects/efforts relating to learning design and development
• Works with team members to identify and evaluate possible solutions, and select the most appropriate ones
• Builds and sustains relationships with external vendors to increase the consistency and the quality of learning content and to drive efficiency and optimization
• Proactively anticipates problems before they occur, defines the problems and identifies possible causes
• Makes key decisions and suggestions (with appropriate input) based on a solid understanding of firm and business objectives and needs analysis and own experience/knowledge
• Directs courses of action and manages relationships for positive implementation
• Ability (and authority) to resolve project challenges and needs that are of varying complexity
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
• Thorough understanding of evidence-based design standards and practices
• Deep knowledge of learning science and instructional design
• Ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities
• Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills to support the overall business strategy, as well as to motivate and influence non direct-reporting people to the achievement of organizational objectives.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity to drive the achievement of organizational objectives in an environment of constant change
• Strong problem solving skills
Supervision Responsibilities:
• Receives general direction as to goals and objectives. Work is reviewed for results achieved.
• Will directly manage and/or counsel others, including reviewing performance
• Prioritizes own deadlines; delegates tasks to others
• Will coach and develop team members and counselees; acts as a mentor to others
Job Requirements:
• An advanced degree or equivalent work experience
• Approximately 10-15 years related work experience preferably in large matrix organizations
• Experience in management of learning and organizational development initiatives
