BlackRock is seeking a New York based lawyer or regulatory professional to join its global Thresholds team within the broader Legal and Compliance department. The Thresholds team is responsible for regulatory compliance and advice regarding filings and limits that apply to BlackRock by virtue of our holdings in the securities of corporations and other issuers. The person will report to the Americas head of Thresholds and along with similarly focused Legal & Compliance colleagues in New York, London and Hong Kong, the successful candidate will be responsible for (or assist with):

•Understand/advise on the impact to filing requirements of changes to fund structures
•Identify changes to reporting requirements in other Americas jurisdictions (Canada, Brazil etc.) and analyze impact to processes and calculation methodologies.
•Engage with issuers and/or regulators to obtain necessary approvals and/or relief from aggregate ownership limits
•Inform investment teams of practical implications of aggregate investment limits and alternatives to gain economic exposure
•Lead on specific issuer/industry or jurisdictional reviews, often working with outside counsel, to ensure timely and complete delivery
•Deal with business as usual issues such as filings and issuer queries
•Expand jurisdictional knowledge base to provide back up to other team members as necessary
•Ensure documentation, policies and procedures and management reporting are updated
Knowledge / Experience:
•Law degree (other relevant business disciplines considered)
•Understanding of collective investment vehicle structures and different financial instruments a pre-requisite
•Proven (3-5 years) experience within a law firm or in-house at a financial services company especially in regards to making and/or advising on regulatory notifications.
•Specific experience in substantial holder or takeover reporting an advantage as is specific knowledge of regulated industry ownership restrictions
•Must be proactive, self-sufficient, superior research skills and be prepared to ask questions, provide options & propose solutions
•Ability to multi task, and work to tight deadlines a must
•Excellent organizational, and inter-personal and stakeholder management skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills
