Job Description:
The Director & Publisher is responsible for leading the overall quality, output, collaboration and engagement of various CFA Institute content produced globally by the Standards & Advocacy team. The position is strategically aligned with the Standards and Advocacy group, internal Content Directors and content producers within the Strategic Functions to achieve content strategy, vision, goals and metrics. It serves as the conduit between the content, members and interface (websites, print).
The objective is to increase overall member engagement (contributions, shares, open-rates, regional focus), increase the awareness of CFA Institute as the global authority for the asset management industry and put a stamp of a standard of excellence on CFA Institute’s content program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for establishing a global content engagement strategy to drive consistent engagement of member facing content in order to achieve strategic vision and usage goals.
Formulate and implement a strategy to raise CFA Institute’s member awareness of content through design, packaging and delivery using internal and external resources for optimal user experience
Effectively present content engagement strategy, benchmarks and achievement against benchmarks to senior management
Develop member and thought-leader outreach strategies to assure that content direction and delivery are aligned with member and market needs
Quickly establish themselves as a credible business partner to key stakeholders within the Standards & Advocacy division
Collaboration with strategic leaders and content producers in Standards & Advocacy and regional stakeholders to assure content needs of local members are met to increase engagement
Raise awareness of CFA Institute’s content through content marketing strategies (Search Engine Optimization, Search Engine Marketing, PR social media)
Can represent the Division at internal strategy meetings, as well as represent CFA Institute externally with industry experts at events and seminars
Represent CFAI’s Content Engagement & Publishing Group with societies and members
Work closely with internal and external analysts to report content metrics against strategic goals
Share content engagement metrics with content producers for collaborative strategic planning, evaluation and action
Accountable for content discipline working with the Content Directors
Work initially as an individual contributor, then recruit, develop and sustain a small but nimble high performing team, providing leadership and support while working closely with internal teams to ensure flawless execution.
Manage external vendor relationships for price and quality
Constantly analyzing internal versus external competencies and areas of expertise such as design, mobile apps, for the best final product experience
Valuable contributor to the Services Delivery Division of CFA Institute representing the contenting and publishing area
Desired Skills and Experience
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Minimum 10 years working in print and digital media
Experience developing content strategy, establishing medium term goals, long term vision and managing tactics to realization
Previous experience working in financial services environment essential, exposure to asset management preferred.
Experience working directly with the market, thought-leaders and 3rd party metrics to shape the content experience for users
Experience of demonstrating your “finger on the pulse” of the user and bringing high quality content products to market for high engagement and perceived value
In-depth knowledge of content strategy and marketing techniques (SEO, content marketing)
Depth of content experience, working with various forms of content (long form, white papers, news, data)
Experience leading internal and external project teams with specific evidence of leading cross-divisional digital and print projects
Experience working with internal and external thought-leading subject matter experts to develop engaging and cutting-edge products
Demonstrable ability to rapidly design and adapt strategies, plans and messaging to achieve mission, working in an agile way with strong anticipation skills
Ability to collaborate, build strong relationships and influence among a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that communications align with strategic priorities. Comfortable presenting to board level and senior management
Global cultural orientation and working experience essential
Experience with digital content architecture and user experience
New media experience (video, podcasts) and outside multi-media vendor experience, including content aggregators (Bright Cove, Atypon, You Tube)
Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills with a talent for turning complex data and concepts into compelling, involving and relevant content.
Ability to work with and access to subject matter experts to source content
