Director Communications Classroom Inc New York City

Job Description:
Classroom, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated, innovative communications leader to strategically manage and craft communicate that convey the deep impact of our learning games, curriculum, and teacher support on individual students and teachers, as well as on the larger education reform movement. This role will be instrumental gaining exposure for the organization by actively seeking new ways to share our work and results.

This role will establish a national Classroom, Inc. brand by initiating and managing an array of communications initiatives, including crafting and communicating company messages, writing product messages and press releases, creating and implementing a thoughtful leadership strategy for managing all digital and social media content, as well as overseeing media relations and outreach.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage all aspects of Classroom, Inc.'s communications strategy, including public and media relations, social media, conferences, new product launches, collateral, and donor communications.
Identify key stories, messages, and initiatives to promote Classroom, Inc.'s work in multiple markets.
Plan and execute targeted communications campaigns.
Build on senior team's thought leadership activities by increasing and diversifying guest blogging efforts, public speaking, presentations, and panel participation.
Create and manage communications plans for company milestones, product launches and announcements across multiple platforms and channels, including social media.
Write and coordinate press releases and pitches.
Secure media coverage across all audience targets: tech, education, general/business.
Build social media presence.
Generate a range of content including blogs, website, photos, videos for use in marketing and communications efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:

6-9 years of communications and/or media relations experience.
Commitment to Classroom, Inc.'s mission and impacting educational reform.
Excellent editing and writing ability.
Excellent planning and prioritization skills.
Experience in education non-profit, education reform, or related organization.
Experience successfully managing social media platforms including knowledge of how to build strong engagement with audiences.
Proven track record of operating independently and collaboratively.
Proven ability to uncover, craft and communicate compelling company messages to broader audiences.
Maintains a strong network of influential bloggers, reporters and journalists, and has a proven ability to generate media coverage.
Ability to effectively represent the organization to external audiences.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Competency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, WordPress, SEO, Google Analytics, Tweetdeck, and Buffer, and SalesForce.
